Description "Ah welcome, travellers, come and visit me in my crown! What? You doubt you could fit into that? Ridiculous! Obviously I call my beautiful palace "crown" - see, even my actual crown is a replica of it. Anyway, hurry up let's get inside now. I'm sure we'll all have a ton of fun shooting up some mutant rats and dining radioactive acid! You think that those are terrible freetime activities and that I'm a bad host? Pah, you're just jealous of my mighty mustache, that's all!" - The King of the Wasteland

Done back in 2012... This character consists of different metal pieces. Some of them are as large as a house in real life, others are tiny, many are painted in Photoshop. He's a robotic ruler of a post-apocalyptic realm. His minions built his hat for him modeled after his residence, an abandoned gas tower.
I've got a bit of inspiration from `alexiuss ' wonderful "Romantically Apocalyptic" web-comic.

Heh, thank you very much (also sorry for replying so late)
By the way, you don't need to be a pro at something in order to comment on it. All you need are the neccesary sensory organs to experience it. Art is not only for artists - in my opinion it should be there for everyone

That space rover painting you've got there is beautiful and hilarious at the same time by the way Although the poor animal would die not having a suit out there D:

Thanks! Ha, yeah that's one of the things I was thinking about when creating this.

The piece seems clustered and messy at first, but once the viewer takes a closer look, the immense detail that was put into this piece can be observed a lot better. The parts look amazing, and you managed to display the different types of materials in a nice way. The piece looks a little dark, though, and I can imagine that the thumbnail itself doesn't look that interesting. Perhaps involving a little more lighting in your next piece will make people more likely to click it.

Thanks for your thoughtful comment and thorough critique. I agree with what you said. My artwork tends to be like that. You have to take yourself some time to fully enjoy and understand it. Once you've gotten behind that "wall" though you'll find that it is indeed worked out quite well and you'll notice more and more new things the longer you look at it. Or at least that is the effect I hope I can achieve. It is definitely the effect that artworks in this style have on me. Unfortunately people are more and more in a hurry so many don't take their time to fully observe these kinds of works.
Oh and since we're talking about this picture already: how long did it take you see that a face is shown here?

It is somewhat sad. It is the main reason why I feel insecure about posting literature on deviantART, people just don't take the time anymore to sit down and look closer at work.

It took me a few seconds before I saw what the picture visually represented.

But your poetry is really short! Who'd say tl;dr to that? Anyway, it's good, brings pictures to the head. I especially like "waiting", "introduction" and "drink". A neat trick to make them take a closer look at artworks you've done is to show them in person. First they'll just feel obliged to it as a respect-thing but later on, if it's good, they'll thoroughly enjoy it. It's hard to spread things out to a larger audience that way though.

It's good that you took only a few seconds. I've shown this to some people who couldn't make out a face at all. They'd just see a pile of scrap metal no matter how long they looked at it D:

I don't only write poetry, I also have longer stories. But I doubt anyone would read them, and they are rather personal as well, hence why I don't post them.

Apparently, I'm quick with that stuff!

If you'd like someone to read those stories, count me in ^^ If not, that's fine too, just an offer.
