Anxiety is rarely a problem with Andy, he is usually relaxed to the point of seeming dazed and dull.

The nature of Andy’s ESP results in a constant state of absentmindedness and daydreaming haze. He often skips buttons on his shirts and cardigans and forgets to tie his shoes; wearing clothing inside-out is also not an unusual occurrence. The intricacies of tying neckties and bowties escape him, usually ending with a choke hold knot at his neck whenever he tries to be fancy. Andy’s hands and arms are often bandaged because sometimes, as he’s pouring his morning coffee, he forgets to stop pouring.

However, despite his generally unaffected demeanor, a simple, well timed ‘boo’ can trigger a violent startle response. The sudden spike of adrenaline drains away as fast as it appeared and normally leaves him in a state of human pudding.

His kind face and laid back personality prompt many to believe that he would have some delicate ‘spirituality’ or any other sort of tactful advice giving skill. Andy lacks any and all sort of KY, mostly because he just doesn’t care as much as he should and retains an innate condescension of others. In fact, in contrast to his amiable nature, Andy has a mean, sadistic streak ten miles wide, and its appearance has become more and more frequent.

Even with constant interaction, he seems a bit detached from the world, resulting in normally senseless babble. He normally comes across as a bit stupid.

On another note, Andy may or may not be one of the most prudish people. One dirty joke can transform his normally pale complexion into a blotchy, ruddy red.

Growing up in a ghetto with strict German parents raised a cold, jaded boy. His father was a thickly muscled construction worker, and his mother was conditionally employed at a sweatshop for making clothes. They were hardworking, but unlucky. Anselm was never able to attend school, but he loved his parents, and despite their situation, they were able to maintain a small, if troubled family.

Life was hard, even for being one of the better-off families in the ghetto and they lived day to day, often missing meals and never really having electricity. Even running water was a luxury, and the younger children under Anselm’s wing usually hid in the sanctuary that was the Frost residence before returning to their own less than satisfactory homes. Anselm was popular among the street rats: cooly composed, genial, strong and generally charismatic, he had friends in both the bullies and the scapegoats of the ghetto and was a protector, though occasional beatings were not amiss.

It was at this time Anselm began hearing 'voices' or having 'hunches' of what would happen. Not exactly seeing the future, but having a feeling of what was to come. Stock market predictions were one of his more popular 'skills', though rarely anyone could actually afford to buy stocks. Things began to speak to him, and he would only notice his own strange behavior after someone would ask him why he had been staring at a light post for an hour muttering to himself.

When a branch of some larger group of gangsters decided to make the area one of their ‘chapters’, violence was even more than commonplace, and being desensitized, seeing the injured and dead became the average day. Thugs would act as loan sharks and ‘taxes’ were placed on all the families with the threat of death. Even Anselm was not innocent of blood on his hands, and his reputation became more of an infamy. His seeming 'power' became popular with the head thugs and to protect his family and his 'children', Anselm was forced into working for the gang.

However the real conflict began when Anselm’s father fell into the drug trade industry in hopes of raising their quality of living even slightly. Dealing eventually transitioned into using, and bouts of rage and domestic violence. Anselm became completely stoic and the family fell apart. Mr. Frost passed away from an overdose, and Mrs. Frost followed soon after, being crushed beneath an iron support near a construction site. Andy was given the choice of becoming a state ward or applying for an apprenticeship. He chose the latter and was handed off to a local butcher’s family, living at the outskirts of the city.

The butcher was terrible and greedy. A greasy, fat and bushy-bearded man, he took much of his anger out on Anselm, the frustrations of not being able to climb the last few rungs of the social ladder to become ‘middle class’. The butcher’s wife and two daughters were just as condescending, looking down on the ghetto-raised Anselm and treating him more as a slave than an apprentice. To them, he was a creep, he was strange and freakish because no one should be able to know things like he did. His only reprieve was the small, sick kitten he found and raised in the back alley, remembering his days of caring for the kids in the ghetto.

His own frustration finally came to a breaking point after a violent altercation with the butcher and his family. During a perfectly normal afternoon outside the deli, the drunk man cursed Anselm, his family, insulting his very being and how useless he was, throwing hot cleaning water at his head and leaving him with a dark scar across his face. The butcher, then in a fit of cruelty, found the frail kitten, and crushed it under a heavy boot. What happened afterwards was never quite clear in his memory, but the butcher was very, very dead, and the wife and two daughters were just as dead. The customers in the deli were unlucky enough to have been caught in the crossfire.

Anselm left that day. He left behind all his memories, the city and the ghetto. Years passed and the gaping emotional wounds healed, albeit unnaturally, and created almost an entirely new person, one not nearly as capable and sharp-witted as before, though his past self sometimes shows in flashes of awareness through the generally dull haze of his personality.

In time, following strange voices in the woods and the instructions that random trees and other inanimate objects gave him, Andy came across a hotel… [START]
