Hello everyone,MY goodness.... It would appear that I'm STILL super behind on messages, (I'm SO sorry everyone!) which I hope to begin tackling soon, but in the spirit of trying to stay productive, I wanted to see if I could finish yet another piece; albeit a black and white one. This one is for my dear dear friend who was kind enough to become a patron of mine, on my Patreon Site:
I was truly touched by this, especially given how much she *already* supports me here on Deviantart, and has done so for many many years now!
I actually feel rather guilty about this too, as I haven't been as productive in quite some time, due to various life issues. But then, I hope to change that very soon! So as promised, (as stated on my Patreon page) one of my gifts/rewards for anyone becoming my patron, is that I would do a black and white drawing of character of a person's choice. And thus, choose Crow, from the Professor Layton video game franchise. Admittedly, I'm unfamiliar with the games, though I of course know of their popularity and that most recently, it crossed over with another game series I DO know well; namely the Ace Attorney series!
And knowing of her love for Professor Layton, I've even done another image in relation to, featuring Anzu from Yu-Gi-Oh as seen below:
And while I'm at it, since is such a fan of the Layton saga and its various characters, please be sure to check out not only her own gallery but also her amazing written works with these characters; particularly her "Grasping Liquid" story in which she's devoted a lot of time, effort and heart into:

He'd gathered the other Black Ravens in the auction room one morning. They could tell this wasn't going to be the usual talk about inventory levels or costumes needing to be fixed. Something heavy lay in the atmosphere as they sat there, exchanging nervous glances between themselves.
When the news broke, there was a very vocal outcry.
“I ain't leavin' forever!” Crow called out, motioning with his hands for them to settle, “Just a few weeks. Maybe a month or two at most. It's not as if we're disbandin', it's just a little break.”
“And how come we only have a break when you decide you wanna leave?” demanded Roddy.
“Ya welcome to keep going without me,” Crow coldly informed.
“We could do and all! We've got Wren's brains and Badger's much better at running around in the costume than you are!” Roddy snapped, not backing down.

Anyhow, getting back to the image itself, I depicted Crow, as asked, but I wanted to make an effort to learn something about him, for her sake, and for the sake of the image I wished to draw. From what I read, Crow was a rather mysterious boy, leading a group of boys, who follow him without question because of his intelligence and charisma. At the same time, he would also having dealings in the black market, within the game. Finally, I also read that he donned a costume, introducing himself as The Black Raven, which is essentially what I've depicted above. I even saw an animation clip of this on Youtube, showing that that boy can really move!

I really am grateful that you were happy to draw Crow in your style, despite being unfamiliar with the character. You've done a fantastic job with him, as I knew that you would do. Your shaded work is always wonderful, so it's great to get to see some more of that in this piece and also in the other Patreon reward pieces you've been working on. It works very well for Crow, especially in the Black Raven outfit you've chosen to give him here. I might have said this before, but I do like how you've combined his confidently smug expression with him holding his finger up to his mouth in a "Shhh!" motion. That's very fitting, both with the character and with the secrecy behind the Black Raven. As well as that, the way you've drawn his hair is very nice and a lovely translation into your own style. And I do like your choice to portray the "hair" of the Black Raven outfit as straw. That seems to be one of the more common theories about it that I've seen in Black Raven fanwork and it's probably the one that makes the most sense to me.
It's also really cool that you did research on Crow for the sake of this drawing. I hope it wasn't too taxing on you, but it looks like everything you learned is pretty accurate (there are two girls in Crow's group, but for the most part it is boys). Actually, there's something a bit more to Crow's impressive speed during that cutscene as well, but considering that it's a small spoiler for the game I won't say any more about that.
Supporting you on Patreon has been the least I could do and I'm glad to see all the wonderful WIPs that you've been posting there. It's so nice to get a sneak peak at everything before it comes here. Thank you so much for doing something like this as a reward and also for all the lovely things you said about me in the description.
Also, this is slightly unrelated but I figured it wouldn't hurt to mention here, I've finally started reading some of the manga you've sent me. I'll save talk about that for our other conversations, but I wanted to let you know since it's been a while.
