Transfer Student 16:

In the small clearing behind the bike shed, two teens sat crossed legged on the overgrown grass talking, a blonde and a masked raven. They spoke as if they had been friends’ years, if you didn’t know any better you would never know they’d only met 10 minutes before.

“Tobi has lots of friends, 9 is a big number, and they’re all real friendly! MAYBE YOU CAN MEET THEM SOMETIME!” the raven squealed excitedly, bouncing happily in place “I think you’ll like them as much as I do, I JUST KNOW IT!!!” he giggled girlishly making the blonde boy smile.

The bell went, warning him he’d be late for class if he didn’t leave, quickly getting to his feet he smiled “I gotta go, maybe I’ll see you again some time” he chirped, feeling much happier than before. Tobi nodded happily “SURE, NARU-KUN!!! BE A GOOD BOY” his strange voice sang as the blonde exited.

The raven sat there for a few minutes before standing “So… that’s the one I’ve heard so much about… Naruto Uzumaki, I’m sure we’ll meet again,” he said to himself, his voice significantly deeper than before.

The rest of the day was a little brighter after his short time with Tobi, even if it was still awkward around Gaara. So far Sasuke had kept his distance, most likely unwilling to get another split lip or bruise which decorated his usually pale skin.

Naruto had always been a fast healer but apparently so was Gaara who seemed unscathed from yesterdays rather bloody punch up, His skin was smooth and unflawed by bruise or graze while his once bloody knuckles looked to have never connected with Sasuke’s body and face.

The Suna in question sat beside him like he did in all their lessons, his face neutral as he stared forward, every once in a while gracefully making neat notes in his book. The blonde watched the teen beside him, desperately trying to figure out what had happened when his name was called “Answer?” the Iruka sensei asked making the blonde tense “err…” *I’M DOOMED!* Naruto thought, about to say that he didn’t know when his hand was tapped, looking down, a little note said ‘0.25’ in the all to familiar neat handwriting he’s been admiring not minutes ago “0.25?” the blonde asked nervously. Iruka smiled with a nod before going back to his rambling… how such a nice teacher was a math teacher Naruto would never know.

The blonde sighed before looking back at the note on the table with a smile. Gaara’s icy blue eyes watched from their corner, the small smile from the blonde making his features soften slightly.

The blonde flicked to the back of this book, squibbling something before poking the Suna who looked down ‘thank you’ it read and Gaara nodded, giving the tiniest of smiles to which the blonde beamed.

As the final bell went the blonde smiled at his redheaded friend “so…” he said softly but as soon as the words left his lips his confidence started to fade. Gaara’s icy eyes flickered to the blonde, which made the boy in question tense. Before he could think of something, Gaara saved him “you coming over for this home work?” he asked, his voice hoarse but not harsh. The blonde nodded, those being the first words they had shared since leaving Gaara’s house this morning. They packed away their books and headed toward the door where Sasuke was waiting for them.

The blonde hopped there wouldn’t be a repeat of yesterday as they began to walk towards Gaara’s home. Just like this morning the walk was silent and just ask awkward though this repeat was made all the worse by the inclusion of Sasuke who seemed to make the already unbearable silence 10 times worse.

As they arrived, Naruto more than happily bolted up to the door, waiting for Gaara to unlock it, having been there already he felt comfortable enough to just walk into Gaara’s home and dump his bag, pulling out the necessary books and heading into the lounge to set up base camp. Gaara soon followed, followed by Sasuke who had noticed the blondes comfort and knowledge of the layout *he’s been here before* the raven thought bitterly the idea that Naruto was comfortable enough around Gaara to go to his home while he didn’t feel comfortable enough to let the Uchiha closer than arms length made him almost jealous.

Once more all three sat in a room together, Gaara sitting comfortably on the floor with Naruto tucked into the chair next to him with Sasuke sitting opposite on the sofa. The young Uchiha in question stared at the two males opposite him, watching them carefully. They both seem absorbed in their respective books, every once in a while making notes but that wasn’t what was pissing him off… they were too comfortable together.

For a few hours they all stayed like this, reading taking notes, every once in a while having an awkward conversation about how to present their work, all deciding on a power point with a voice over and diagrams so they wouldn’t actually have to work together too much, just record their voices and edit it so it would flow.

Sasuke left around 20:00pm, a car coming to collect him while Naruto decided to stay behind a little longer to go over the their plans so he had a clear understanding.

The blonde was thankful that this research session was uneventful, a repeat of yesterday was not desired as he didn’t want another punch if he could avoid it. He snuggled into the chair, his blazer slung on the floor while the book he had been reading earlier rested on the arm, his legs tucked under his body. Blue eyes glared at the words hatefully. *why must this need planning?* he mentally questioned as he let out a sigh. Blue eyes looked up from the pages to look at Gaara who seemed to be reading, that was, until Naruto spotted instead of notes, the Suna was doodling little animals.
Naruto smiled, closing his book and leaning over the arm of the chair to get a better look at the doodles.

Upon closer inspection it was of a chibi fox going all gooey eyed over a bowl of ramen with what looked like a grumpy panda pulling it’s tail to stop the fox falling into the broth. “That’s pretty good!” the blonde announced causing Gaara’s pencil to pull away from the paper as a light pink dusted the suna’s cheeks at being caught slacking “not really” he mumbled. The blonde leaning over his shoulder snorted “aww, common panda-senapi, it’s cute!” the blonde praised, sending Gaara’s cheeks another shade of pink. The Suna in question pulled it out of the notepad and held it out to the blonde “have it” was all the teen mumbled before he was suddenly flat on his back with Naruto sitting on his chest. The blonde had gone in to hug the Suna but had lost his balance and fallen on top of him. The position was awkward and highly reminisant of that morning making Gaara blush vibrantly. The blonde on the other hand looked shocked, his face drained of colour and his eyes the size of tennis ball while his mouth hung agape. That look in his eyes said it all. Silence…

“It wasn’t a dream…” the blonde whispered more to himself than anything, his cheeks suddenly erupting a bright crimson.

Gaara lay there stunned, eyes wide at the boys words. He’d spent all day avoiding the others gaze in an attempt to keep what had happened secret but all his efforts had gone to waste.

Naruto suddenly yanked Gaara’s collar away from his neck, staring at the dark mark… in his dream he’d marked him, but it happened in reality, the slow realisation as to why Gaara had been weird all day, it suddenly made complete sense

*NO, NO, NO, NO… I FREAKIN SEXUALLY ASULTED GAARA!!!!!!* He mentally screamed. His body reacted suddenly bolting backwards, off of Gaara and as far away from the other as he could possibly get as tears stung his eyes.
