I'm not gonna lie, I loved when she went to jail and beat Peter's ass. THat's the only thing that actaully bothers me, is the continual bad things that happen to Meg. It makes me sad, but when she had moments like that I couldn't help but feel a great sadistic pleasure. Family Guy: Making perfectly normal human beings homicidal.

Let's face it: Family Guy is basically a very mean-spirited, misogynistic series, where the characters just don't develop, only have gradually worse things happening to them as time goes by (because the shock factor is the only thing keeping it going). My advice: cut your losses, be happy with the first few seasons (that were mostly fun), and get off this train-to-nowhere, fast. I did, a couple of years back, and - especially after taking a peek at this season's opener - am very happy with that decision.

Seriously, I'm pretty sure McFarlane's original intention was to make a point of this, but as the years roll on the show's subversive edge gets blunted and it truly is about getting the cheap laugh. So the main Meg storyline is now not about how judgmental, even horrid, people can be to other people, for the most superficial reasons, but it rather is about "look at Meg! What a fat, pathetic sad sack!".
