This is great. Someone needs to explain to me why this game gets so much hate, because except for maybe DMC3, I think it's my favorite installment.

You're right. I really liked DmC, I didn't play the other games of the franchise, but I've seen playthroughs and to be honest the story and the characters are not that likable. It's just my opinion xD The gameplay is amazing. Fast combos, great transitions between weapons, well its great xD. Now I'm waiting for the DLC Vergil's Downfall. And I want DmC2 out quickly xD

If there was one weakness in the games it was always the story. The gameplay and everything was always solid, but the characters never got me too emotionally invested or anything, especially anyone other than Dante or Vergil. This game's story wasn't a masterpiece but it was way more engaging in a lot of ways and I kinda wish they could've expanded on it a little more.

It would be great if the game was bigger, that's true. In my opinion the Chars are very likable, even the new Dante, hated by so many, I liked him, of course in the beginning, he was a brat, but It's great to see his growth during the game. Vergil is likable too, and I liked Kat too. But of course it's just my opinion. But yeah they could have done better in the Story, even if it's good.

Yeah, I like the new Dante. He felt more human, even though some people were saying his lack of fear made him less human than the Dante from before, but I don't think that's the case at all. Plus, the new Dante actually undergoes discernible character development. My main problem with that was how drastically he changed in a very short span of time. First he's a sexually deviant hedonist and the next moment he's vowing to protect the world. Vergil was awesome though, I think he was my favorite character. Especially with the ending.

Well, the answer for "First he's a sexually deviant hedonist and the next moment he's vowing to protect the world" it's Kat. I guess Dante realized that he has a major role in life, it's not only getting laid xD
But the other reason is the game is too damn short XD

Yeah, a little more exploration of the characters would be much appreciated. I hope they don't just introduce a whole new slew of characters and shift focus away from these guys. Not that new characters wouldn't be appreciated so long as they're interesting.

Well if they could do both that might be ideal, but I would definitely prefer to see engaging development of the current characters over a bunch of underexplored new ones.
