Description

Hello, everybody! I’m back! Perhaps you guys remember my story SquarePants Are Magic, a crossover between SpongeBob SquarePants and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. It’s definitely a story I’m still proud of to this day. But you know what I love? Musicals. One of my favorite forms of storytelling and I have a lot of fun watching them. And even though I’m no musician, when writing the story, I liked to imagine the kind of songs it would have. In fact, I actually found out this is exactly what Walt Disney did when he pitched Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs! I even liked to imagine the songwriters would be Alan Menken and Tim Rice! I know hiring names like them wouldn’t be out of left field if the story was a real film, as Hey There, It’s Yogi Bear! and Snoopy, Come Home had Disney songwriters on their films. And I feel for a crossover, Menken and Rice would give it it’s own identity. But what songs would be in it? Believe it or not, I actually imagined TEN songs for it! Now, before we start, I should link the story so you don’t go in without knowing things first, because this has spoilers:

Now, then! Let’s find out what they would be!

1. “I’m Ready” (Chapter 1) - The very first song starts in Bikini Bottom as SpongeBob is getting ready to go to work with Squidward. As usual, Squidward is grouchy and hates having to go to work, but SpongeBob still keeps his optimistic spirits high and is ready for whatever comes his way. We also get verses from characters SpongeBob and Squidward meet along the way including Patrick, Sandy and Mr. Krabs, as well as Bikini Bottomites like Mrs. Puff, Pearl, Bubble Bass, Fred and Harold. Plankton gets his own solo as he once again plots to steal the formula. Think of Under The Sea (The Little Mermaid) mixed with Belle (Beauty And The Beast) and I Just Can't Wait To Be King (The Lion King). It’s funny how we’d get a song just like this in SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical with Bikini Bottom Day!

2. “Pinkie’s Welcome Song” (Chapter 1) -  When SpongeBob arrives in Ponyville, Pinkie wants to throw a special party for him as he’s not only new to Ponyville, but new to their universe. It’s in the style of a special and wacky show-stopper like Be Our Guest (Beauty And The Beast), Friend Like Me (Aladdin) and Round My Family Tree (The Tigger Movie) as Pinkie names off the numerous things Equestria has to offer.

3. “I’ll Explore” (Chapter 2) - Once finding out the history of Strife and how serious this is, SpongeBob feels uncertain about this new environment, but still promises himself he’s going to pull through and do the right thing. Similar to Part Of Your World (The Little Mermaid) and Out There (The Hunchback Of Notre Dame).

4. “Alone” (Chapter 3) - After dismissing Patrick and Mr. Krabs when looking for SpongeBob, Squidward gets back to his business of playing his clarinet to his numerous paintings. He starts singing the joys of being alone as his paintings come to life and join in singing. At parts, the songs gets interrupted by what Squidward thinks is SpongeBob when actually it’s in his head. It's in the style of a song like Gaston (Beauty And The Beast) or Little Girls (Annie), where it's Squidward mostly catering to his ego and even starting to go mentally insane. Much like I'm Ready, a similar song would be made into I'm Not A Loser from SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical.

5. “Bring It Around Town” (Chapter 3) - When SpongeBob gets along more and more with the Crusaders, he decides to help them find their special talents. A montage in the style of The Bare Necessities (The Jungle Book), Hakuna Matata (The Lion King) and One Last Hope (Hercules).

6. “Our Lullaby” (Chapter 4) - When the giant is captured, Fluttershy sings a lullaby to calm him down. In the style of Mother Earth And Father Time (Charlotte's Web).

7. “Look Who’s Callin’ The Shots” (Chapter 5) - A jazzy tune sung by Plankton when he and his dinosaur army take over Ponyville. In the style of Oogie Boogie's Song (The Nightmare Before Christmas).

8. “Our Lullaby (Reprise)” (Chapter 5) - When thrown in a dungeon by Strife. Twilight sings the song to Spike to soothe him. She can even hear Celestia’s voice singing from her cage in the throne room.

9. “Dinosaur Rock” (Chapter 6) - To distract the dinosaur guards, Pinkie sings a groovy and scat like tune as Patrick at first struggles but soon gets the hang of it. In the style of I Wanna Be Like You (The Jungle Book) and Roll Back The Rock (We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story).

10. “I'll Explore (Reprise)” (Chapter 6) - A short reprise sung by an offscreen chorus when back home in Bikini Bottom.

Credits Songs:

1. "SquarePants Are Magic" - A rock and roll cover sung by Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie as a mash-up between the series' theme songs.

2. "I'll Explore" - A cover sung by Josh Groban.

I hope you guys liked this! I hope to hear feedback in the comments, and what do you think of the choice of music! See you later, guys!
