Description
I took a different approach with this one, and didn't use my best friend....the blur tool
I also tried giving texture to his body, different for the horns, crest, scales, etc. as a different style for the Headshots, though I'm still unsure, I guess a little more practice and I'll have something I like :3

First of all, this is executed very well, don't let anyone tell you different
Though, I can see what the commissioner might have disliked about it. It may not be the shading in general, but rather the position of the light source, which is set a little unfortunately from the bottom right, which makes the whole thing look a little... well, creepy - despite the rather smirky expression. It's a detail some may be more sensitive about than others.

This is an excellent headshot, I like drawing this character a lot, very fun to draw ^^ I like the different approach too, the textures really help bringing character to life, the scales look really good and perfect where they shine. The crest, spikes, and horns, is what really make this character very interesting and fun to draw, it's like a nature type dragon lol, but makes sense, your practices did very excellent with this durg, keep it up!

It was hard not to use the blur tool, as I use it quite a lot for shading, though it may be best not to rely on it so much, and try other things~ :3

The differing textures certainly add a unique look to it!
But yeah--play around with it a little, and you oughta find something you really like.
