Description This is my Zora cosplay, it debuted at Otakon '12. Some things on it still need to be modified for my own comfort or to make it look better but its basically done. I made everything on the costume except for the zentai suit, but I did do all the painting and modifications to it by myself.
Enjoy and feel free to ask questions!

Would it be possible for you to answer a few questions I have about this?

I bought a zentai suit as the base and lightly sprayed it with a blue fabric spray paint just to give it a under tint of blue. For the spots I Β used velveteen fabric paint, and hand painted the spots on. Β For the fins i used a white muslin that was stiffed with quilting batting. The arm fins didn't have quilting batting they had the stiffest interfacing i could find in them. They are velcro'd into the zentai suit after it's put on. Β for the feet i bought whats called cat paws lyrical shoes, then carved hot glue sticks for the toes and attached them to the lyrical shoes. They are worn under the suit. Β For my mask i Vaseline'd my face and had my freind lay 3 layers of paris of plaster bandages. I let those dry before building it up and shaping it with more bandages. About halfway through i inserted sun glass lenses for the eyes. Once i built it up I wanted it I then used paris of plaster sculpting clay to finish of the shape I wanted, and sanded it, painted it with acrylic paint. It was then epoxied onto the fabric, which was a mistake because the epoxy turned to a yellowish color when fully dried.Β

I wish I had done this differently though and done the mask in latex and did the headfin differently because the head fin is very heavy and pulls the mask up a little bit so that it isnt a perfect fit anymore and puts a ton of pressure on my eyebrows. I had to attach a elastic band to the mask on the inside and that makes it extremely difficult to get my head into the costume Β Also the lenses fog up like crazy. Β I need a lot of help getting into the costume and when walking around because I cant walk, hear or see well.Β

Excellent work! Getting that head fin to arch back like that is the most impressive.
