They live in a compost pile or a tunnel in the ground a few feet down, you are right Lana, they do live on grass in the winter to survive.

I did not know that they have such a hard way to go when it is cold for them I would expect they like the warm weather

I feel bad for them out in the winter not as much food but then with the summer it can get too hot for them it must be hard for them to find water to drink.

I didn't think of it that way I would guess that it is until a good heavy rain that is you know Paula it really is very sad that they have to be out there in this big cruel world
