For a year now I have been wanting to visit the Garron Plateau as it's the most extensive area of intact upland Blanket bogs in Northern Ireland, and that kinda thing really gets me excited

I finally made it up there on the 12th of July and went for a 13 mile walk around the bog and cliffs. Its a real wilderness area up there with very little visible human impact.

Perhaps this seems a little too compositionally bleak, but for me this was the draw of the area. In winter time this place must be really desolate.

There are well developed pool complexes on this bog, I think these are called oligotrophic lakes.
