Pronounced Bo kay, like bouquet but say the o.
It's Japanese and it means "haze" or "blur". It's the way the out of focus elements are rendered in the photograph and is affected by the aperture and focal length.

Bokeh is a very pretty type of photography I love it. Thanks for telling me I had no idea how to pronounce it till now!

Sure thing. It really is. What kind of camera do you have?

I use a DSC-W220 Sony Cyber Shot. It's a pretty great camera easy to use and good for photography class.

can you control it's settings manually? Iso/aperture/shutter speed?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yukiko-berrie In reply to cmickle [2011-11-13 03:52:13 +0000 UTC]

the Iso is manual as for the aperture and shutter speed I think that those are automatic.

Okay, well if it has a museum mode, then you should be able to take a small piece of paper, or something white, and hold it in dark-medium light focus lock (halfway press the shutter release) and then recompose and your aperture should be open and put your lights in the background and all goes right. . .BOKEH! Hope it helps, enjoy
