This a pony-version of Diana, Scorn of the Moon. She is a playable champion in the game League of Legends.

Her tale has many similar spots to Luna and I could imagine Diana as Luna's bodyguard.

Diana was raised among the Sun-worshiper "Solari Knights", but she found evidences, that long ago, some poeple worshiped the Moon too. She wanted to prove it to the elders very bad, so they recognize her potential, but the elders dismissed her.
She researched forward, and found a tomb, inside in it a crescent blade and armor, and Moon-symbols. When she returned to the elders, they marked her as a heretic and sentenced to death.
Diana furious and betrayed, shattered her bindings and killed everyone in the temple.
