Papercraft commission for of Misaki and Hikaru from Angelic Layer! Making Hikaru was a fun challenge - it had been several years since I’d made a figure that tiny, and I was eager to see how much I’d improved since my last attempt (at least, I hoped I’d improved). And it was tricky, but I’m really pleased with how she came out! I was able to get way more detail onto her than I would have a few years ago.Related content

Thank you! It's a super cute paper - it looks white if you look right at it, but when you turn it a little you can see it's covered with tiny iridescent dots!

Thank you!! I'm really proud of itty bitty Hikaru; super-tiny papercraft can be way tougher to make than giant ones, at least for me, so I'm really pleased with how she came out. And the uniforms in this series are so cute! I was really excited to try my hand at it! ^___^

Thanks! I like that red glitter paper too - I thought it would be difficult to cut when I first bought it, but it actually cuts like butter, so it's a good paper for long, thin, flowing shapes like the ribbon-wires. Really fun to work with!

Oh! Question! When you cut pieces out, do you cut on the reverse side? Or on the side you're using? I don't know your whole process, but do you use digital software to design pieces and then... maybe make a template?
I remember I had the problem of having the vision of what I want, but sketching on the side I'm using wouldn't work when that certain paper doesn't erase well.

I transfer the shapes I need onto the reverse side of the paper I'm using! When I first started out, I did try using the "front" side, but I also had trouble with erasing the pencil lines.

No, but that's a good idea, and would probably be way more efficient! I'm too stingy to buy myself a lightbox, though. XD I use tracing paper!

I loved this manga!!! But once again, it had an anime adaptation I thought was ugly and crappy in comparison to its' crisp and stylish source material (the Chobits conundrum all over again LOL)

Yes, I've heard that CLAMP's style is very hard to animate, which doesn't surprise me - all those details! All that flowing hair! Even their slightly simpler styles, like Tsubasa, seem like they'd be tough to animate.
