Hello all, and welcome to a new interview! This time I got to interview LinsenSchuss and I found that very exciting! He was kind enough to share some wonderful insights with us

Hi there, LinsenSchuss ! Can you tell us a little about yourself, who are you?

My name is Dane Vetter and I live in Germany. I am 33 years old and have been living in Germany for so long. Photography is a passion of mine, as is traveling. I like to combine both and both complement each other wonderfully. Primarily, photography is a hobby I've had for almost 10 years, but on the other hand, it's also my second job for a few years. In addition to landscapes that are more of a hobby, I also photograph products for companies and weddings and various shootings. In my real job, I work in industry as a hygiene manager in Switzerland, which is something completely different from my photography.

What attracts you to APN photography, and photography in general?

I love to capture moments. I want to show people these moments and places, moments they have not yet seen. Thanks to photography, I've experienced so many beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and I've seen so many beautiful places. It is also a motivation for me to see more of the world.

What do you find the most challenging when shooting landscapes?

As you can imagine, light plays an important role in a photo. A landscape looks quite different at sunrise, as in the high midday sun. In the photo studio you can control the light itself and adjust it as you would like it. This is not so easy with landscape photography. As you can see, many of my photos were taken at sunrise or sunset. You sometimes have to start very early to catch the sunrise at the right moment, which can not always be easy. And there is no guarantee that you have a nice sunrise or sunset, even if the weather forecast looks good. The weather is often one of the biggest challenges in landscape photography, and is not always as predictable as you would like it to be. There is always an uncertainty about whether there is a fire-red sunrise with burning clouds, or a faint sunrise without a single cloud in the sky. I have experienced a few moments where you got up early, and then just before dawn a couple of clouds have moved in front of the sun. That can be frustrating. But you get used to that.

What kind of gear and/or software do you use?

I work with full-frame SLR cameras from Canon. I have two Canon 5D Mark 4 with 8 lenses. And a lot of accessories I do not want to list everything. As software, I primarily use two programs: Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop. These are for me the most important programs with which I can do everything.

How do you improve your skills as a photographer?

I improve by looking at other photos of other photographers, being inspired. I watch videos, read blogs and books and check in forums regularly. The internet offers a lot of information, you just have to make something out of it. And most importantly, you also have to practice it.

What is your favourite kind of landscape to work with?

My favorite landscapes? Currently the pure nature - in the day as in the night. I'm going to Iceland for the fourth time, you can guess what I like so much.

Is there something you wish you'd known sooner?

Of course a lot! As an an example:
In the past, I always wanted to have the newest and best of equipment. Today I know that I do not really need the newest camera. :-D Today I know that the motive is more important than the equipment. But I have to confess that I'm now very well equipped after 10 years of photography, and with this maybe a reason why I do not worry about the equipment.

Do you have any tips for people who want to learn how to shoot landscapes?

Yes! Practice and get better! Always try to evolve and be inspired by others. Be self-critical and look at other photos and compare them with yours. Do not be ashamed to imitate the same photo of someone else, because that's the way to learn. Show your photos to others, and sometimes accept criticism of your photos, and think about it. But you do not have to accept every criticism, only those that can help you.

Hello all, and welcome to a new interview! This time I got to interview LinsenSchuss and I found that very exciting! He was kind enough to share some wonderful insights with us

Hi there, LinsenSchuss ! Can you tell us a little about yourself, who are you?

My name is Dane Vetter and I live in Germany. I am 33 years old and have been living in Germany for so long. Photography is a passion of mine, as is traveling. I like to combine both and both complement each other wonderfully. Primarily, photography is a hobby I've had for almost 10 years, but on the other hand, it's also my second job for a few years. In addition to landscapes that are more of a hobby, I also photograph products for companies and weddings and various shootings. In my real job, I work in industry as a hygiene manager in Switzerland, which is something completely different from my photography.

What attracts you to APN photography, and photography in general?

I love to capture moments. I want to show people these moments and places, moments they have not yet seen. Thanks to photography, I've experienced so many beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and I've seen so many beautiful places. It is also a motivation for me to see more of the world.

What do you find the most challenging when shooting landscapes?

As you can imagine, light plays an important role in a photo. A landscape looks quite different at sunrise, as in the high midday sun. In the photo studio you can control the light itself and adjust it as you would like it. This is not so easy with landscape photography. As you can see, many of my photos were taken at sunrise or sunset. You sometimes have to start very early to catch the sunrise at the right moment, which can not always be easy. And there is no guarantee that you have a nice sunrise or sunset, even if the weather forecast looks good. The weather is often one of the biggest challenges in landscape photography, and is not always as predictable as you would like it to be. There is always an uncertainty about whether there is a fire-red sunrise with burning clouds, or a faint sunrise without a single cloud in the sky. I have experienced a few moments where you got up early, and then just before dawn a couple of clouds have moved in front of the sun. That can be frustrating. But you get used to that.

What kind of gear and/or software do you use?

I work with full-frame SLR cameras from Canon. I have two Canon 5D Mark 4 with 8 lenses. And a lot of accessories I do not want to list everything. As software, I primarily use two programs: Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop. These are for me the most important programs with which I can do everything.

How do you improve your skills as a photographer?

I improve by looking at other photos of other photographers, being inspired. I watch videos, read blogs and books and check in forums regularly. The internet offers a lot of information, you just have to make something out of it. And most importantly, you also have to practice it.

What is your favourite kind of landscape to work with?

My favorite landscapes? Currently the pure nature - in the day as in the night. I'm going to Iceland for the fourth time, you can guess what I like so much.

Is there something you wish you'd known sooner?

Of course a lot! As an an example:
In the past, I always wanted to have the newest and best of equipment. Today I know that I do not really need the newest camera. :-D Today I know that the motive is more important than the equipment. But I have to confess that I'm now very well equipped after 10 years of photography, and with this maybe a reason why I do not worry about the equipment.

Do you have any tips for people who want to learn how to shoot landscapes?

Yes! Practice and get better! Always try to evolve and be inspired by others. Be self-critical and look at other photos and compare them with yours. Do not be ashamed to imitate the same photo of someone else, because that's the way to learn. Show your photos to others, and sometimes accept criticism of your photos, and think about it. But you do not have to accept every criticism, only those that can help you.
