Hound class - Attack Destroyer

Hound is relativly new destroyer class, in service for about twenty or so year. Hound was created to be in front of every fleet, attacking with its stronog weaponary and survive the first minutes of the battle thanks to its heavy armor and shields. Like some other ships it use the high charged Ion cannons which on lower settings can disable ship and on high ones can destroy the opponent. With an range of some 12k these cannons were excellent for mid range combat. Hound is also outfited with laser point defense turrets which are very fast firing and precise, this weapon is common on all Hounds in service due its great abilities. Hound also have missiles and torpedoes. With "Aster" anti-ship fusion missiles which thanks to its small size and speec can easly overhelm enemy defenses, however this missiles were not armored, they are light and are easy to destroy. They do little damage comparing to some other missile types but taking that they launch in large volleys they can do pritty nice damage to the lightly target. "Tor" antimatter torpedoes are heavy hitters of the Hound arsenal, these slow moving torpedoes can do nasty damage even to unshielded battleship, and if few of them hit the same shielded spot they can drain most if not all of the enemy ship shields and even heavily damage everything in vichinity of the hit.

Hound is in service with several nations on the Frontier, many of this ships were in service with civilian defense companies which were tasked with protecting the Frontier in the name of UEA and Commonwealth, few dozen of this ships even serve the UEA Southern regions and also the Indus Empire use at least fifteen of this ships.

Hound is 975 meters long and have crew of some 850 although the Indus variants have 1000.

Maybe the most famous ship of this class is the Wolfhound of the Terminus Defense Company, although the Terminus have some larger ship in its fleet, this ship was flagship for then Southern part of the Frontier and was under command of the Captain Dean Braxen, who is also the so called pirate hunter.

While Hound is well protected and well armed ship it is not really the fastest destroyer around. As with many destroyers and cruisers it should keep its distance from enemy so that not end overhelmed by enemy fire or get primed. However from short range all of its weapons including defenses can do some nasty damage if needed, while its missiles and torpedoes as well ion cannons can do damage as well from medium ranges. Hound have three abilities. First was (Disable Beam) an EMP beam pulse that can disable enemy ship for five seconds, it can be of great use if attacked by stronger ship or cornered by more then one ship, thus allowing yourself to escape, second ability (Suicide drones), a group of ten drones is launched from underbelly hangar, they rush to enemy that was targeted and ram it, self-detonating on impact and causing great damage. And final ability is (Shield booster), this ability increase the strenght of the shields for a ten seconds.
