ALLLrightytighy, I'm not much of a critique but I do know a lot about horses, so I'll give a whack at it e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" />

First off let me say this is a fantastic piece. It's dark, but not like overly dark like I see in a lot of art these days. I also really like the front hooves.

Okay, now with the critiqy stuff. I'll start with the belly first. It should be more of a round barrel-ish type of shape. Horses usually don't have thin rectangular framed unless they are malnourished. I would also lengthen it a little, not just the belly area, but the back too.

Now for the legs. The shoulder on the left foreleg is a little boney, making it seem like the 'elbow' would be jabbing into the horse's side. Also, the leg shouldn't bend that way at the fetlock (or ankle) the whole should look more like a slight 'C' shape in that position. The hind legs could use more muscle at the stifle (knee area?) and grow thinner at the hock (the jointed area)

All I can say about the neck is it should be a little longer. If it were to try and bend down to graze, it would be at lease a foot from the ground. I would also suggest enlarging the head to get it a little more into proportion with the rest of the body.

I have to say this is fantabulous for somebody who probably doesn't draw horses very often. It's always a good idea to practice e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title="Aww" /> If you want, I could do some redlines, too.

I don'y know much about critiques but maybe the belly should be a little rounder, like a pot belly and the shoulders look a little over-sized and boney,

HORSEY. You got the body structure and all that good stuff down, I especially like the cheeks. I dunno what a horse really looks like but listen to everybody else on the body and stuff.

Oooooh, I like the coloring but I think it needs more...shades/colors whatever you wanna call them so the horse doesn't blend into the backround as much. Grass would be cool too, even if you hate drawing grass. The horse looks kinda like evil/scared something in between but kinda wary so maybe some dirt and stuff in it's mane, tale, and hooves would look cool.

Oh, I like this. 8D I'm a horse fanatic so I was naturally pretty delighted to see some equine art in my inbox.
Critique: I would say that her (I'm going to use the female pronoun simply because I can't see any stallion...vital regions ) eye is a bit big and that her head is too small. The hind hooves appear to be splayed out and the hooves themselves are too big; the foot proportion looks good but the hoof generally has more hair coverage. The shoulder structure is too narrow and too deep; horses have broader shoulders and they don't curve in like that. There is something fairly canine about the horse's posture and legs.
But is this your first time drawing an equine? I don't think I've seen pictures of them in your gallery before. o:
