Description

Name: Jeong-hui

Age: 23

Height: 5' 10

Monster type/species Description: Warlock:

A human with magic abilities—his are hereditary, passed on from his fathers bloodline. His magic is naturally violent and adapted for curses.

Glamor item: N/A

Natural weapons: N/A

Weakness:

Mortal: He's human, and anything that could hurt a human will hurt him.

Burnout: Channeling too much magic too quickly can lead to painful burnout and, in worst case scenarios, a state similar to being possessed by his magic.

Overdose: On the flip side of using too much magic, if he doesn’t use his magic enough and has too much inside him, he runs the risk of becoming Overdosed, his magic control becoming extremely volatile and self-destructive until it wears off.

Major Skills:

Familiar: Chan-mae, an oversized tarantula hawk, has been with him since infancy—their fates are linked, and her purpose is to embody his magic and serve as a conduit and guide.

Major: Tier 1: Her sting, rather than venom, injects raw curse-magic into a person—an incredibly painful experience, even for someone attuned to it. She's not incredibly helpful to Jeong-hui… but she has her moments.

Minor: Tier 1: May act as Jeong-huis eyes, allowing him to see and hear through her. Lasts for up to 5 minutes. Jeong-hui is blind and deaf to his own surroundings during this time, and can take a few moments to return to himself even after that.

Bolt: He may fire a bolt of curse magic at a target with a spoken word.

Tier 1: Effective at a range of 50 feet or less. Any further than that and theres a chance of it misfiring and hitting something instead…. Including himself. The bolt, if striking an object, leaves deep marks if not destroying it altogether. A living creature struck with be paralyzed with pain for d12 minutes and left with a spidery red welt, but otherwise no lasting damage.

Channeling: Given a magically conductive object (or with Chan-meis help), he may cast a more refined bolt of curse magic.

Tier 1: Effective at a range of 20 feet or less. Further than that and theres a chance (roll d20, 1 is a failure) that it will instead backfire on himself. An object smaller than 2 feet cubed is destroyed from within, and a person struck by it is wracked with terrible burning pain from within.

Minor Skills:

Prestidigitation: A handful of small, mostly showy charms or effects. Given the fact this is not his natural form of spellcasting, he struggles greatly with it. But its good practice, right?

Tier 1: Roll d20, <5 is a failure. May create some small effect that lingers for a few moments before fading again. Think the d&d spell.

Shield: A crackling barrier of energy surrounds either Jeong-hui or a target of his choice, preventing the passage of physical objects or magic in or out.

Tier 1: If casting on someone else, they must be within 5 feet of Jeong-hui. Barrier stays up for 3 hits.

Siphon: Certain varieties of magic sources can be corrupted and absorbed into Jeong-hui for his own use.

Tier 1: Freshmen level spells are absorbed and negated. He can typically handle up to three before overdosing.

Personality: Soft-spoken and incredibly well meaning, Jeong-hui is a studious if awkward young man. He prefers whenever possible to be able to mediate issues and not rock the boat, clearly nervous with conflict of any sort. He tries to be a good example to those younger than himself, perhaps seeing himself as an older brother of sorts to them.

Character's Background:

The eldest child (and only son) in a family of 9, Jeong-hui had always grown up with his family expecting great things from him. It was obvious from a young age that he had inherited his fathers magic— his familiar showing herself to him before he could even talk.

His father, a powerful warlock, was pulled away from home at times to fight for others… this was ultimately his downfall, leaving Jeong-hui as the 'man of the house' when he was barely more than a child. It was a pressure he felt greatly, and he did his best to care for them. He'd never been very confident in his magic, but he worked hard to refine it—and when his application to join the prestigious Akademie Der Krahe was accepted, he worked even harder still to prove his place.
