your portraiture is amazing! do you use a grid when you draw these and a wide range of pencils?

Thanks! Usually, I start a drawing with one 4B pencil. than, 6B or darker one deal with the most dark place like hair, eyes, Β and 4B to draw shadow on face. 2B and 2H to draw the light on face. It depends.Β
