Alphys is, of course, referring to her injecting falling monsters with DETERMINATION, leading them to become the amalgamates. In DeeperDown, since we've already seen that the amalgamates came to the Surface with them, it is same to assume that Alphys came clean and told the others what she did. And they apparently forgave her ^^Also explored a little bit with blurring. Not sure how I did, but it's a start ^^

Zeragii nice job with the blurring background and foreground ^^ at first my eyes didn’t wanna focus on the needle but once I realized that it was supposed to be up front the blurry effect worked very nicely and made the art pop

... & yet, there's no mention of the fact that human Souls had to be experimented on in order for Flowey & the Amalgamates to even exist to begin with. It's the Fallen Humans' Determination that fills their bodies & the fact that the Souls, themselves, respond to Frisk's call for help in the Flowey Boss Fight suggests that, despite having been dead for years, Souls retain sentience.
This means that the Souls would've been conscious & aware as their will to continue existing was drained from them while also being forced to remain rather than move on.
After all, the machine was a DT Extractor; therefor, the DT was extracted from one thing in order to be transplanted into something else. Yet, all the concern is placed upon the monsters affected, but none on the Souls. I can't help but feel dubious of this fact.

That suggests that they even had a way to determine if the souls were conscious or not.
We don't reall have any sign that they might have been until Flowey "activated" them. Considering that they don't act at all until used by Flowey, and that it took effort on Frisk's part to make them respond at all, it is likely that their consciousness is in some sort of quiescent state, only briefly returning when called upon.
Besides which--if their DT was drained more than just a small amount, as not-Determination souls then they would have fully died. They presumably need to be contained in those special jars to last for long. It depends on how the jars work to preserve them, but it isn't far-fetched to assume that they are in some sort of magically "frozen" state, which would prevent conscious thought.

Fair enough. I actually agree that it's very possible & even highly likely that the monsters didn't know of this fact.
However, that doesn't make it okay. Ignorance isn't the same as innocence. The Souls were still experimented on & nothing can change that fact. Also, you call asking for help 'effort?' Other than them, no one else in the entire game EVER answers the call! Frisk asked for help & they answered.
The thing is that this is 'souls' we are talking about. The game introduces them as being "the very culmination of your being." That alone should be enough to tell you that there's more to it than 'shiny, heart-shaped battery.'
... I've always just been under the impression that souls were eternal... but either way, I'm not so sure about that. They seemed to have some DT of their own left or they wouldn't have been able to break free from Flowey. Also, keep in mind that Flowey is full of THEIR DT. Being in contact with him could've lead to them regaining a small amount of their DT back.
Then there was how Asriel described his time merged with Chara. He said it was like both of them had to struggle for control. Imagine a car with 2 drivers. This meant that Chara was sure 'nough very lively even as just a Soul.

Aw, weeeeeell, I certainly didn't start out that way (and certainly not their yet) ^^ Some of my earlier pages tend to make me cringe. BUT! By doing such a looooong comic, I'm slowly starting to get the hang of some of them ^^ Some like Papyrus and Undyne still need a bit of work
I just looked at your profile and they're so cute!!!!! You got to remember, everyone has their own special style. ANYONE can always improve, and as they do their style will become more and more fine tuned and unique. Practice, as you said, is key!

Hey! I've been reading your comic for a while online but only just made an account. I'd just like to tell you how amazing your work is!!! I've wanted to say this for a while so it might be long winded.
The art style is super cute. When I first clicked onto the comic, I was shocked by how unique a style you have! I've read so many comics with the same style they just seem to blend together and nothing really stands out. Yours, however, caught my eye right away. I love how you like to experiment with how the monsters look and with some styles I can see just how much risk you took and it really paid off!
Also, the storyline is super awesome. It's not the usual generic "resets and depression" song and dance. You've introduced new characters and spiced up the dialogue with your own ideas. You seem to take such joy and pride in your work and you can see the effort to create to the best of your abilities showing through which makes it really attractive to your readers. I swear I've read every Undertale fancomic, fiction and theory on the internet but none of them have stuck out to me as much as yours. It's new, it's inspiring, it has a purpose and a message. BEAUTIFUL!!
Lastly I'd like to say that your update schedule really surprised me. Most creators update consistently at first then less as it goes on because they've either lost the inspiration or are just too lazy. The creators who do update consistently though, do so at a much slower rate than would be preferred. You update so often that when I go to check up on all my ongoing series once a month I am just overwhelmed by how much you have posted. I can assure you that all of your fans love you and your work for these listed reasons and maybe others that I've forgotten to add.
Keep up the good work!! I can't even express in words how much I love your work.
(Also I'm still figuring this site out but the second I figure out how to "like" I'm taking an hour to go back and like all your comic pages
