The onigiri ((White one)) is going to ~Annaska , so I took some photos before sending him/her off
((It even has a cute little heart stitched to its butt! XD))

Ah.. I can try to explain!
I think you've just stitched two pieces together, am I right?
The onigiri ((White one)) is made with that technique, so it's pretty flat.. I was too tired to think how I would get the 3D-effect x_x
The maki ((Black)) is a bit more complicated, but it also has the 3D-look.
I stitched two black rectangle-ish pieces together to make the black "belt", then sewed the white circles to both ends.
The green cucumber circle is optional.. But it brings some nice colour, so I recommend it! ((It doesn't have to green! It can be flashy neon pink, too! 
And remember to put plenty of filling! You can use normal cotton. It doesn't have to be fancy stuffing made for plushies.
But when using cotton.. Don't stuff TOO much, or else it will be a stone-hard plushie. x_x

But, another question. What brand/kind of felt is that?
Everytime I buy some it's either too thick and I can't use it because it's too stiff. Or it's too thin and it just rips. β’nβ’ < π: 0 β©: 1

Euh.. I don't know..
But it doesn't really matter what brand it is!
You can feel it if it's the right kind of fabric//felt. Just take the roll ((Or rip the plastic)) and try it!
It should be soft, not stiff, nor too thick/thin.
Also, about the ripping thing.. Try to stretch it before buying. o 3 o
The cucumber part on the top is stiff and thin. That kind of fabric goes well for little details.
