It's not that the Monkey's Stump is a good bar, 'coz it isn't; it's just that good bars are sort of thin on the ground in the vicinity of Kong Studios and Murdoc has already gotten them kicked out of all two of them, at the first for 'harrassment of waitstaff' (he kept flashing the bar maids) and at the second for passing out in the lavatory a grand total of seven times (and then refusing to move when anybody tried to rouse him).

Still, as bad choices go, the Monkey's Stump is pretty alright. It's got that familiar sort of feel, what with the wall-scribblings and cracked plaster and the unidentified stains and the smell of stale beer and old cigs and (very faintly) blood. It's never crowded, probably thanks to the very large "CONDEMNED" sign plastered across the front door which may or may not be decoration. Best of all, when you want to drink alone, they leave you a bottle and they don't ask any questions.

After a difficult day, 2D can definitely appreciate that.

I am SO pleased with this one. I spent a whole day on it-- as in literally twelve hours or so staring at the screen and coloring. But it wasn't until about midnight that an 'okay' picture became something RAD. At first it was just 2D and the bar-- plain, unadorned, colored but not detailed. And then I realized that Gorillaz don't hang out in clean, antiseptic places. It needed some dirtying up. So I started adding graffiti and various creepy stains and a thick layer of dust to the mirror and so forth... Et voila! A bar truly fit for our favorite band.

This one beats my OTHER "2D in a bar" pic by, oh, OVER NINE THOUSAND or so. Heh.

You really need to fullview it to see all the little details, of which there are many. I had a field day with this one, folks.
