I could imagine the institute and the Enclave getting along quite well, they both share the idea of the wasteland humans being "impure" and are both technologically advanced. If they teamed up, the Brotherhood wouldn't stand a chance

No, the Enclave would want total control of the Institute and its resources. They'd want to use their technology to carry out their genocidal mission. This is exactly what they tried to do with Project Purity in Fallout 3. They would try to force the Institute into working with Enclave scientists. The Institute believes in using science to benefit humanity, not for death & destruction. The Enclave would just destroy them and take control of their facility if they refused to cooperate.

The enclave's view of a perfect america is impossible, but in my opinion they are one of the most interesting factions in fallout lore-wise. I love the design of their power armor and plasma weaponry is just cool in general. I need to polish up on my lore though, as your comment makes a lot more sense than mine. It feels cool to talk about fallout with someone else who is invested in that post-nuclear war world

Hey, if you ever wanna chat Fallout, I'm your guy.Β Β
I've always loved the Brotherhood of Steel, not just because they got all the cool toys, but also because their ideology resonates with me.

Yeah, i prefer the brotherhood's approach of helping humanity. Makes me wish that the enclave weren't so short-sighted and would actually try to help people, they could do so much with their technology.

Well they're the government, so that makes them evil. It'd be interesting if we got a slightly reformed Enclave in a future Fallout game that's more grey than black or white. It kinda sounds like that's what Colonel Autumn wanted to do all along. If you listen to him inside Project Purity, he explain how "people will flock to the Enclave for water & a plan for the future." Sounds like he wasn't extreme like President Eden.

Yeah, colonel autumn had the right idea, while president eden was all about his modified F.E.V killing off the irradiated residents of the wasteland

I think it'd be cool if the Enclave returned with an army of intelligent Super Mutants, similar to Frank Horrigan in Fallout 2. It would make up for their dwindling number of pure humans, and replenish their forces fast enough to make a hasty return.

Yeah, Elder Maxson adopted the brotherhood outcast's mission to care more about technology than the well-being of the wasteland's natives. I doubt the brotherhood would ever side with the Enclave, especially after Raven Rock got blown to bits. The institute did have an entire wing dedicated to FEV treatment, which seems similar to the Enclave's own research on the treatment, of course, the institute naever made their own Frank Horrigan. But hey, if the institute would be willing to share their technology, the Enclave could make a come-back on the east coast

Actually, Arthur Maxson's Brotherhood is an amalgam of both Lyon's ideals, and those of his ancestor Roger Maxson, the founder of the Brotherhood.

LOL. Agreed, although those Vertibirds are built like paper!
I hope Maxson will return in future Fallout games. I'd like to see him develop as a character. Because his character will also likely reflect the Brotherhood as a whole. Take Elder Lyons for instance. Casdin said when Lyons was younger, he was tough. As he got older, he became softer. I wonder if that will happen to Maxson as well. It's clear that he has some of Lyons in him, and with age comes wisdom. He is only 20 after all.

FEV is not able to be transmitted through air, it only works when the specimen is in contact with it directly. It was originally found in large vats inside the Mariposa military base, and was released when the bombs hit. Without radiation, FEV leads to increased muscle mass and intelligence, but super mutants use the imperfect irradiated FEV to change humans into more mutants. I don't know if this is true or not, but FEV also seems to eliminate the genitalia of both sexes, whether this was intended or if it is an effect of the radiation exposure I can't say for certain. The fallout Wiki is always a great place to look for information, and is most likely a better source of information than me.
