His hair is too long but aside from that... I still hate you.

The pic worked...and he always creeped me out. He and Demona both.

Demona is quite creepy, yeah, but I find Macbeth more of a tragic character. The least, he isn't completely evil under the surface, even if he most of the time gives the impression of a villain.

Most of the time?

It's been too long since I've seen them to really judge anything properly.

I haven't seen every ep either, but there's this one called "Sanctuary", where it's revealed that he's not truly evil, but rather much depressed and wants to find some sort of point for his endless life. He and Goliath have a 'deeper' talk in the end, and I think after that he doesn't harm the non-Demona gargoyles any more.

Really? Woah...now that is cool.

So, what is the deal between him (MacBeth) and Demona again? Something about they can't be killed by anyone else...?

zorm In reply to Obi-quiet [2006-06-25 20:34:44 +0000 UTC]

Hooboy, forgetting to answer questions again... X|
Can't be 100% sure about that, since I haven't seen all the eps. But it seemed like some sort of pact for peace, at least between him and Goliath in that ep.

Here's a Wikipedia article on Mac. Should explain the Demona connection.

Very impressive! The angle looks like it had to be a difficult one, but I'd say you pulled it off marvelously! Looks like something you'd see in a comic book, actually. It's very professional-looking. ^_^

Lots of perspective helplines. Kinda technical, when you come to that. The show just depicts this kind of vertigo perspectives so often, that I wanted to try one myself.

Holy goodness gracious is that awesome. The angle you did on that...holy, holy crap. You are fantastic. It almost gives me vertigo just looking at it. 0_0 The sky is really ominous too. You are so talented. That's one heckuva way to spend your spare time. ^_^

The angle was pretty darn difficult, but in a way a fun experiment to do. I guess it's in my nature to look for a bit of something novel and maybe challenging in every new pic.

Your sense of detail amazes me time and time agian. How big is this picture in reality? Or are you using magnifying glasses to put the details on... And do you draw a pencil sketch first, and then lineart it?
Sorry to be so curious

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zorm In reply to konijnemans [2006-04-22 19:36:08 +0000 UTC]

*checks* 2400*3800 pixels. You could kind of say I use the magnifying glass, as I zoom in a whole lot with PSP. XD

But, bad puns aside, this is mostly inked and sketched digitally. I did a pencil sketch of the character, inked the basic lines and part of the details by hand, scanned it, and continued from that with PSP. The background is totally digital stuff. You can see some of the very basic bg sketchlines in this work-in-process version: [link]

I've kinda started preferring digital inking since I bought the better-resolution tablet some months ago. Also, the pics are easier to look at on the screen than on the piece of cardboard I use as a drawing board. Yeah, the latter's pretty pathetic, but as I don't own any studio equipment and there's very little table space in my dorm, that's the best option. xP

Yeah, and thanks.

zorm In reply to elionora [2006-04-22 19:13:56 +0000 UTC]

I started this sometime last week, had a WIP version up on my Livejournal on a crit round, and finished it today. Didn't really count the whole amount of hours. Also, very much depends on the topic and character as of how long something takes. But generally 10-20 hours (or more) from blank paper to a full-inked piece.
And, thanks.

Well, I certainly wouldn't mind that sort of profession as an alternative option to IT engineering sometime in the future, when I've gotten my studies done. Though, I might be a bit too slow for that sort of stuff. These pics take a whole lot of redrawing and fixing and whatnot and horribly big resolutions. This one was particularly difficult. x( Never done that sort of perspective before.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

purplegoldfish In reply to zorm [2006-04-22 20:57:07 +0000 UTC]

I'm surprised that you've never done a perspective like this before-you pulled it off flawlessly! And I'm sure you would excel in the comic book industry

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zorm In reply to purplegoldfish [2006-04-25 23:00:39 +0000 UTC]

I've done the perspective 'the other way round' (looking at buildings sharply from beneath) a few times, but not this particular angle. But a dense grid of perspective helplines aids a whole lot.
