"What's the use of being so awesome... If every day I always end up in the same place; alone. Why do I feel this way?" Rainbow reflects on her own question for a moment, trying to piece together what brought on these confusing thoughts. "I-I just ain't good enough yet I suppose..."
"Um, excuse me..." Rainbow looks around searching for the source of the voice. She finds no one at first, then "Um, down here..." It was that lanky yellow pegasus from flight camp. What did she want Rainbow wondered? She never could understand how a pegasus such as that could ever exist who actually *feared* heights.
Rainbow replied; hardly in the mood for dealing with this strange pegasus' right now, "Yeah what is it? Kinda busy at the moment." Rainbow said in a very distant tone, hoping the weird banana pony below her cloud would get the hint and leave her to her thoughts.
"Oh, sorry... It's just... it-it's just... *meep* I'm sorry, I just thought you looked kinda sad. I didn't know you were busy being sad- I mean, not that you are- I mean you DO b-but I *meep*" The yellow pegasus really wasn't used to speaking to her classmates, let alone the most brash hotheaded and tomboyish filly in School. "I just thought, you know... you'd wanna talk about it? You know, if you WERE sad, and you know... weren't busy looking sad..." She hardly ever looked up at Rainbow as she spoke, or tried too; her pink mane hiding and some times muffling a few words she attempted to speak didn't help matters.
Rainbow Dash was a bit surprised, here she was, moping about how lonely she felt and no one bothering to care about her awesomeness, and suddenly her uncoolness has attracted the weakest link in flight camp -who actually stayed back a whole year- trying to *pity* her? Well, that is just TOTALLY uncool and Rainbow was just about to say something when the Yellow pegasus simply began to walk away... "Ha, guess she wasn't so concerned after all." Rainbow said with a slight chuckle. She can't explain why she did what she did next, but something inside her made her do it; she'll probably regret it but for now, she gave it no thought at all "HEY! Aren't you going to at least introduce yourself?" Rainbow blurted out, startling the lanky yellow pegasus.
A loud "EEP!" was heard and the yellow figure had disappeared beneath some cloud cover. She popped her head out, embarrassed, yet hopeful "Oh, um, I'm Fluttershy"
Rainbow replied in kind to the soft spoken Fluttershy, "Hey, just checked my schedule and I guess I ain't so busy after all." She lied, something inside her didn't care that Fluttershy was the least popular filly in school, if anything she thought at least be a service to her to the meek yellow pegasus, Fluttershy was it? After all, what did Rainbow have to lose from being just a little bit generous to the uncool ones once in a while? "So, yeah. You like wanna hang out a bit or something?"
Fluttershy was shocked, she didn't expect Rainbow to be so accepting of her so quickly. "That, that would be nice.... if you know... that's ok with you."
And so began what would later become a very special friendship between the two most unlikely mix of ponies. The two would build off each others strengths and weaknesses. Rainbow Dash began to see Fluttershy as a friend she'd do anything for, a friendship she'd protect no matter what the cost. How Fluttershy felt about her was unknown, but Rainbow knew that smile on Fluttershy's face, probably meant she thought their friendship was just as important.

Years later... At the Castle during the Royal Wedding. Celestia has fallen, over powered by Chrysalis and now the mares are tasked to recover the elements!
This wouldn't be revealed for many years, and in the darkest hours Rainbow would do something she never dared do. That day, during the battle with the changelings, Rainbow Dash decided that should they fall that day, that at the very least she'd let Fluttershy know just how special their friendship meant to her. As Rainbow Dash turned around to stare at Fluttershy, just seconds ago saved from a group of changelings disguised as Rainbow Dash -by Rainbow Dash pretending to be a changeling disguised as Rainbow dash- she looked down at Fluttershy who merely looked up with a fearful look, doubt still clinging to her mind as if what hovered above her was possibly just a ruse to trick her into thinking it was indeed her long time friend. Rainbow Dash looked down at her with a resolute look on her face. Rainbow Dash scooped up Fluttershy, and without giving her a chance to react-
*smooch*
It was done. Rainbow pulled away as fast as she had swooped in. Fluttershy was shocked, surprised at what her friend had just done; still processing the event. She came to the conclusion that Rainbow had indeed kissed her during the confusion. She stared at Rainbow who looked to be gauging her reaction. Fluttershy's head was spinning with thoughts, she had no idea how to react. She was always told such things between ponies was only allowed between a colt and filly. Her parents would be soo mad. It may have been all the adrenaline pumping in her veins, or how sad Rainbow looked as Fluttershy was giving her a -what could be described as disgust or fear- and came to yet another conclusion. Buck what her parents say, she's an adult. And Fluttershy will love whatever pony she wants to love.
Rainbow stared, a frown slowly creeping up on her face for. Had she done the right thing? Had she just destroyed years of friendship? Does Fluttershy even want to be around her anymore? Rainbow was swarmed with these thoughts all at once. But, immediately she came to the conclusion that it didn't matter anymore. Rainbow Dash gave a weak smile, trying to hide the hurt building up from her actions, fearful of Fluttershy's rejection. Wait... Did Fluttershy just blush? Why is she smiling? Can it be?!
At this point, amidst the chaos, a silent and yet powerful admittance of love was shared between two ponies. Two ponies from different worlds as far as their personalities were concerned, a friendship that seemed to have blossomed into something more powerful over time the more time they shared together. Celestia may not accept their love, but for now nothing in all Equestria, nothing in the whole WORLD, mattered in those precious intimate moment they shared that instant.
