Description I modeled this ship from Ice Planet some times ago, but never had the chance to produce a full rendering due to memory constraints... Now with a better spec system I could produce this rendering in Keyshot, using the plastic and transparent plastic materials.

This ship is very nice, a modern take on the "twin cockpit", and I particularly enjoyed tweaking the material for the clear orange plastic to convey a slightly glowing look.

I hope I'll be able to post other ice planet renderings in the future, I've just completed the minifigs As usual modeling with Creo Parametric

Stay tuned

Paolo

It sure deserves some more "dramatic" renderings, as soon as I have some time for that

Nice Render indeed. What Software are you doing this? LeoCAD?

No, I modeled all the LEGO bricks in Pro|ENGINEER (which is now called Creo Parametric), a cad software from PTC. The model is assembled in Creo then exported to Keyshot for rendering. I used real parts for reference at the beginning, then took some hint from MLCad. LeoCAD and MLCad parts libraries are good but not detailed enough for close shots, and Creo allows me to implement mechanisms for complex sets.

Wonderful render as usual! I was very fond of the ice planet sets when I was younger.

Ice planet was really nice although it lacks a nice mid-sized ship, but I understand it's a theme that's set more on ground (well, ice) than in space

Last night I had a dream that Lego had started bringing back some of the older lines and the styles that were used for them.

I think every true LEGO fan has at least once dreamed of having the old sets back on the shelves

Did you have it? The hardest part are the minifigs helmet, they are not present in this shot, but I hope I'll have time to render one because it was really a nightmare to model

Oh yes I did, got a couple of those nice orange helmet mods. X3

Thank you very much! I did not intend to model parts as "recent" as IcePlanet, but as time goes by my criterion keeps shifting: "only classic space... and Blacktron"... or maybe better "no sets with strange canopies", no wait, I LOVE strange canopies, let's say "only minifigs with classic faces" but then Ice Planet is sooo coool... ok I'll draw a line at the UFO sets... maybe
