Description I've always want to try this kind of painting style- without lines and semi-realistic. But I didn't know how and failed miserably.
After watching many tutorials on DeviantArt and one on YouTube, I supposed I'm starting to get a hang of it?
I still have to practise more on the texture here, the metal and the hair seem quite similar, don't they?

Please let me know what I should improve on.
This is the first time I finish something with this art style and I'm already addicted to it!

Haven't finished playing Undertale, lol. But for some reason I chose Undyne as my test subject to practise this art style.

Time used: 3 hours
Tools used: Paint Tool Sai; Photoshop (for colour and lighting adjustment)

Hello, I'm here from ProjectComment 's Comment Tag game. My word was “ponytail,” I debated about which one in your gallery to comment on with that tag word, but since this one didn’t have any comments, I felt it’d be good to comment on.

Since you said you haven’t had much practice with this style, I’d say you’ve done really good. The face is incredibly well done- especially around his eye. The shadow and tone are really wonderfully rendered and the color in the eye works so well.

I also really like how you’ve added some tones of his hair into his face, looks great and makes the drawing that much more intriguing.

Some advice:

You’re right that the hair and metal look to have the same texture. I think that adding some more shading and illusions of lines in the hair will help it stand out more and have more definition like you have in the face. As for the metal, try looking up photos of actual armor to see how the light and shadows play off of it. (I’m not very good with metal drawings myself, to be honest).

You’ve done a wonderful job here, I hope you keep up the great work. Now it’s your turn to comment on Cyres1 ’s gallery with the tag word: bones.

Have fun!

Thank you for the comment! I'm sorry for the late reply.

I'm glad it's not as bad xd I've been trying to do this one-layered painting and I've struggled so much.

Were you thinking about commenting on "Allie Temerity"? I don't have a lot of artwork that consist of ponytails, and I kept thinking you were going to comment on that one when I got the "mention" notification

No worries.

And I believe that's the other one I considered commenting on.
