She watched the lifeless form of Kaidan lying on the bed, the emotions crawling up her spine and making the anxiety slowly turn into despair. She didn't like the feeling of weakness or vulnerability; she wasn't used to feel like this. But now, as she watched his sleeping form, she felt as if she was falling apart from the inside out.

She should hate him for the things he said on Horizon and Mars. She should despise him for breaking her heart time and again. He was the reason she became this monster everyone feared; his rejection caused her to cut the paragon path and allow the bitterness and darkness to take the better end of her.

But now, that didn't matter anymore; all hatred and anger towards him was simply gone. All she wanted was for him to open his eyes even though all she would see in them would be disappointment and hate. She disappointed him by becoming the renegade monster, and that slowly started to tear her apart.

She took the nearby chair and sat down, ignoring the doctor that entered the room seconds ago. She gently took his bruised hand in his and swallowed back a sob as she spoke softly into the room.

"Don't die, Kaidan... please..."

She felt the walls she built around her slowly starting to crumble as she transformed her thoughts into words.

"You're the only reason I keep fighting this god forsaken war..." Sucking in a deep, steadying breath, she allowed one tear to fall as she finished her thought. "When you're back on your feet again," she allowed a small, hopeful smile to twist her lips as she feathered her thumb across his knuckles. "I'll change... I promise..."

She lowered her head and whispered, "Just don't leave me again."

With that said, she pushed herself up from the chair and sucked in another deep, calming breath before she put up her Commander facade again. She strode out of his room with one thought in mind; these were her last days as the frightening Commander Shepard. As soon as he opens his eyes she would change. For him.

Phew... I got a bit too carried away lol.
