A facility like Fort Tempest, equipped as it is with state-of-the-art defenses and a variety of specialized facilities, has staggering power requirements. While most of Tempest's energy comes from a geothermal reactor buried deep under the base and powered by the nearby volcano at Mt. Chaolt, a number of wind and solar generators provide supplemental and emergency power. Maintenance of these backup generators is a high priority, and due to the harsh environment of Lok, Sandtroopers astride beasts of burden are often called upon to haul heavy loads of tools and parts to work sites such as these across the base.
