Hey dog. i'm glad you check out my ish. Glad you is all content and crunk, like a true player who never saw it coming.... yea. We never hang out anymore, like we did in the old days, when sailors were still sailors, warrios roamed the barren land, and none of them had lemonade. Ah, yes.

if you were in town, and i wasn't a wanted man, we'd hang.
literally, and figuratively.
alas, though, the scully's life i lead keeps me knuckles moist six days o' the week; yet lo, as the bling pours in, the day will come that we live like kings, take the finest spirits, and gorge ourselves on the finest raw fish in the land. it will be a merry time.

Yes it will a very merry time.
Until then, we have to fight. Someone is dying out there right now, don't know who or how, all I know is there is an ear, a big ear. We have to fight, like our fathers fought the squirrels in their time. Back then I was nutty. I.. I was a real fruitcake.

Ok ... what is the general idea of the Americans? I've heard that American culture has become somewhat poular over there like Japanese culture, animation, and style is becoming popular over here.
I'm sure there are others but I've been very busy this weekend and hurricane Ivan might still hit, so its been crazy around here.

I'm actually quite supprised of this first question. Beacause I got so many answers for it that I don't know wether to say the positive or the negative.
Which do u want to hear first?

Aestheticus In reply to Skybase [2004-09-13 14:01:47 +0000 UTC]
Negative first. I'd imagine we're still seen as a lazy ignorant people. Which I will say that with the fact that there are so many obese people here doesn't help disprove that, but I'd like to think we certaintly aren't ignorant. I was also thinking that I've seen a lot of comedy programs that involve trips to Japan, and lots of goofing off. I image that doesn't do a whole lot of good either. And as for the positive, um, kids here give into stuff like pokemon and yu-gi-oh very easily. hahaha. I heard that they're very nice to Americans tho. My friend went there with a foreign exchange program, and he said that he was treated very nicely, he didn't hear of anyone saying stuff behind his back, and that aparently Japanese females think American guys are so awesome. Anyways, yea, I'd like to know the stereotypes (good and bad) they have of Americans. I look to take a trip to Japan this summer or next summer, it'd be nice to know what I have to look forward to. Thanks again!

Okay, this is very negative. And I really hate to say stuff like this... Read it at your risk
Not all but most think that America controls Japan in all aspects except culture. Ever since Japan became packed with goofteens, the view of America changed.
After 9/11 Japan was like a pet of America, where as the Priminister Koizumi could not say a word to Bush. Japan could have said, "we will not go to war" but ironically we weren't strong enough. So, did that Japanese like America in that sense? No. But here's something that comes in conflict: Japan relies on America for protection and yeah... stuff. The Japanese population doesn't know what to do, so we just kept smiling.
I was actually doing a survey when you asked me this question, and I managed to get a pretty interesting view of America from the Japanese perspective, ages 30-60.
First they would always say, "Well, can't say bad stuff about a nation that helps us." then I asked for honesty and they would reply, "Its a country of fools." "The country that needs to hold guns to protect themselves." "A gun holding country of war." "Its one of those feared countries, yeah, they cause trouble, they cause wars... I mean, they are the glorious hearth fire that turned into harmful wild fire." (Men/women 60's Translated.)
The teens quote: "I'm not thinking about it." "They hold guns. Guns are not good." "See, its one of those IRAQ-like countries where the qualities are practically the same: War." (Teens ages 13 - 15. Translated.)
A lot of the Japanese don't seem to like America being around, of course, for the industries and tourisim, that's fine. But it seems that the Japanese find things harder to deal by following America. Nowadays, things are getting better. The view of America is ceritainly changing and is being influenced quite a lot by the media and such. But what can we do?! NOTHING! Absoutley! As long as America has power over Japan, there is nothing much we can say about it....
(I'm actually ashamed of this country. I can't be proud of being in Japan because all those stupid politicians make things harder for us. It sometimes makes me wish that I was in America.) Peace

Holy crap that makes me a bit angry and at the same time I got a laugh out of it. Thanks for conducting the research. We can be a bit headstrong in taking military action it seems. But someone has to, I just wish people like Rumsfeld made us more of a defender than an agressor. It seems like they think we just carry guns around... hahah. I seriously had no idea they thought that. Anyways, thanks for answering that question, I'll prolly tihnk up some more, but as it is, I'm running late for my pistol-training class.

Its a really confusing issue And I'm glad to hear you are a bit angry. Hehe, the reason is, because a few Japanese totally think the wrong way and seems to be TOO proud of this lousy country. Culturally, I can be proud of Japan, because of its uniqueness but from that "money" side... its a badly run country. Seriously, watch the Japanese news, whats it about? Money and how people are using money. Abusing money....! In that sense I find Japan a pretty foolish (and stupid) country. Of course, I love the stuff that's away from the money biz.

Yea, the culture is pretty cool. Even if they might have prejudices against me because I'm a foreigner, I still want to go to Japan for atleast a week durring a break from school. I'll hopefully have a decent comprehension of the language by then. The news in America can be bad sometimes too. I'm not sure who the major broadcast stations are in Japan, but here it's MSN, CBS, CNN, and FOX. And all but Fox are very liberal in their reporting and will skew facts to get people to think differently. We have to hear about money squandering, troops dying, and especially here in Florida, we have to hear about how bad the weather is, and it looks like another hurricane is going to hit in 4 days or so. Hooray. It could always be worse tho. Ok, hmm, other questions about Japan... how common is English? I've heard that its required as a 2nd language in some schools. And are you orginaly from America or some English country? Your English is excellent. I once had a pen pal in Japan and although it was nice to send email back and forth, I had a hard time understanding her because she would switch her 'L's and 'R's around.
