I work with zbrush, 3ds max, and photoshop. although i do try out other programs now and again to see if i prefer them... Mari is slowly working its way into my workflow.
glad you like them!

well, there are many tutorials out there, but at the same time, I am a little bit of a newbie, using Daz Studio 4 to get my start, and a lot of them are confusing. ^^' So, what I am curious of is this: of How one makes hair. Hair has got to be probably the most complicated thing, especially if you want it to have the ability of movement every couple of centimeters. ^^' would also love to see one of your files in the original 3dsmax file to see of how you did it too. XD

Well, i uploaded the wireframe as well i think, so you can see how the hair is made up, it's mostly a bunch of textured alpha sheets. i've never used Daz so i don't know for certain, but i think the hair there is spline based rather than polygonal.

ah. ^^' well, I will branch forth into 3dsmax when I feel like it wouldn't be a waste of money, and I hope to one day do similar to what oyu have done. ^^

Well then i would suggest working with Blender. it's a free, open source app which has fantastic tools and (in my opinion) is getting close to rivaling 3ds max. in fact i've been strongly considdering switching over! you can achieve exactly the same results as i did with Blender.
Also, i'll take this opportunity to pimp out the polycount website/forum. it's probably the best learning resource and community out there for game art. www.polycount.com

there's an example of how your photos have helped me improve my 3d art. without your photos, the anatomy of this girl would be way off base.
thanks again man!

it tends to just be general reference sort of thing. like, i haven't made anyone in particular into a 3d character, but i'll use your photographs as a way of seeing what i'm doing wrong.
here's an example:
