Let me know where I was up to for transferring smurf episodes to you over Dropbox and I'll start it up again.
I'm leaving for China on the 15th of Feb, and DeviantART is blocked over there, coming back in July. Do you happen to have a skype, by any chance? Perhaps we could chat over there - which is (I am pretty sure) not blocked in China?

Aah, should probably let you know that you still need to download the Japanese version of AAI2 separately (you need to patch the translation yourself). I don't have a link at the moment but I can get it if you need it...!

[sees you're apparently online]
so uh. You're gonna be waiting a lot longer for my smurf responses, if you're waiting for my responses before providing yours... I recommend you don't. You already have messages from me to respond to. SO, it would be a great idea to respond to your stuff in the meantime?? XD
The reason my response is still ages from reaching you? Well, guess who's recently discovered, and become obsessed with, Ace Attorney???? xDDD

Oh! It has been a while.
I'll try to remember to comb through my messages tonight and start with a couple. I have discovered Steam and through that I've discovered Don't Starve. I totally know how you're feeling with Ace Attorney right now, I'm presuming Don't Starve has done the same to me. Can't... stop... playing! And if I'm not playing, I'm blabbing about it on reddit.
Also, Ace Attorney is definitely awesome! Have you seen BrentalFloss's Phoenix Wright lyrics ?

Ahhhhhh. I'm finally up to Dual Destinies! Haven't started playing it yet, but I will soon (when uni work clears/lets up a little bit)! Have you played all the AA games? Even the second Investigations that didn't get localised? There's a fan translation out of that, you know! (YOU SHOULD LIKE. PLAY AAI2 IF YOU HAVEN'T. XD)
By the way, I was aware of that song before you linked it to me, but I hadn't listened to it. I left the link sitting in my inbox for a while because I was unsure if it would contain any spoilers or reference a game I hadn't played yet or whatever, and yeah that fear was definitely unfounded haha. Anyway I listened to it the other day and... That was interesting? XD Not what I expected. I expected... Something better. XD. But it was alright.

Heh, I get a kick out of the humor-based songs. I had no idea what Limbo was until I saw the song for it and thought it looked pretty cool. And nope, I've only played the one I was able to buy on my phone. But if roms are in the picture, I can get a hold of those! And now that I'm reminded of it, I do really want to play Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney. I don't even care about Professor Layton, but just the fact that it's an official crossover makes me super happy and hyped to eventually get it!
I haven't listened to them, myself, but have you heard of the Turnabout Musical? Spoilers I'm sure, but I'm guessing for a game you've played.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
EscarlataFox In reply to AlternateMew [2015-05-10 04:59:49 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, they do have charm.
Wait then WHICH ONE DID YOU BUY ON YOUR PHONE???? So you've only played ONE Ace Attorney game???!!! That's insane! (hahahaha I AM SUCH A FAN). I hope it was the first game, or by "game" you mean you bought the whole original trilogy in bulk or something... Like if you play out of order it has the potential to spoil a LOT for previous games.
aaaaaah you can most certainly use a rom for AAI2. But be warned, it is the SECOND Ace Attorney Investigations game, and it's like, the sixth game that was released that relates to the ace attorney franchise..... So I dunno how much will be spoiled. Some things, for sure, ALTHOUGH you can mostly follow the game on its own...! YOU CAN GET IT HERE: gbatemp.net/threads/ace-attorn…
Ahh yes, after playing the DLC case in Dual Destinies, Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright will be the last game I have left to play...! (Well, watch a playthrough of, that is, which will be a first for me, since the game is regionlocked to me. Pity I didn't know that before purchasing it on Amazon). I've never played Layton before so it'll be interesting to get a feel for what Layton games are like!!
Oh and YES, YES I HAVE, MILES AHEAD OF YOU BUDDY (pun not intended). But yes!!! I have both heard of AND listened to the Turnabout Musical it is the BEST THING 100% would recommend, I am obsessed with so many of the songs and the first song even comes with an accompanying animation! I can link it to you if you want?
Oh, and pfffff, SPOILERS? Not at all! And I'm serious about that. The songs only pertain to the first four cases of the first game... Which I finished like FOREVER ago! I mean three or so characters from future games make cameos in the first song with the animation, and Mia references Diego Armando in one of her songs, "He taught me to always hold my stand....", but that's about it! Other than that, if you've at least played the first four cases of the first game it's pretty much spoiler-free!
Interesting that one of the cameos is that of a future murder victim. Like, "Just wait buddy, you'll be dead soon!"
I think my favourite songs are The Samurai Always Wins and Tomorrow, At Last. Flippin' FLAWLESS! Those are the ones I listen to the most, at least. And wow, the casting is SUPERB, so much like how I imagined they'd sound. Edgeworth's singing voice is 10/10, idk I just think when he's speaking normally it doesn't sound spot-on, but that's nitpicking. The only casting that wasn't practically exactly how I'd imagined the character would sound is Gumshoe... And even then, the voice still makes complete sense and totally suits the character, it's just that it wasn't how I personally imagined he'd sound.
My only complaint is that there isn't a musical for the rest of the series, which I know is too much to ask for since the whole project was entirely fan-made anyway. But wow, the potential, aaaaaah. I just really want to hear Franziska singing, imagining Franziska angsting through song because I REALLY NEED THAT. (Like even if they'd just done the musical up until Franziska first appears, that would have been nice).
But anyway...

RavenLacrimosa In reply to AlternateMew [2014-07-18 19:36:57 +0000 UTC]
ok here's the context
Here's one incredible thing about the Internet: once you get on, everyone gets an equal opportunity to use it. But Verizon, Comcast and other big US corporations are determined to change that, and kill an Internet that's open for all.
Internet service providers (ISPs) like Verizon and Comcast are pushing the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to make changes that would create an Internet “fast lane” -- where websites would need to pay ISPs a premium to ensure high-speed connections. ISPs would have the right to choose which services get fast traffic and small businesses that can't afford premiums could be slowed down to a crawl.
But the fight to save the open Internet is heating up. Consumers and a handful of companies including Netflix are standing up to the ISPs’ profit scheme. If ISPs like Verizon prioritize some traffic over others, it will hurt everyone -- consumers, start-ups, and small businesses alike.
The FCC is asking the public right now what to do -- and unless they hear from us, the FCC will hand over control of the Internet to Verizon and Comcast
all you have to is to submit this comment
I am opposed to the FCC’s proposed rules that allow corporations to take control of the Internet. I support equal and open Internet access. Please change the FCC’s proposed rules and regulate broadband Internet providers as common carriers so that the Internet will not be divided into a fast lane for corporations and a slow lane for everyone else.

By the two, are you referring to the two on your profile about The Clockwork Smurf, The Smurfs and the Money Tree, Haunted Smurfs and Painter & Poet? Sorry, it's just that I get so paranoid about these things and have a must to keep track. But if that's all there is, then I'll take your word for it, and that'll really ease the niggling feeling at the back of my mind.
And that's weird... I've never heard of an update clearing any messages before...? Weird. I wonder how it disappeared from your inbox...?
That's really, really great news. And I've finished all my exams now, so free time, and after next week I'll have officially hit holidays, so YAY. PERFECT TIMING! (And this time it's good timing! )

Oh hey, you're asexual? That's cool. I'm demisexual myself - or, at least, I think I am. . I definitely feel romantic feelings (and have in the past very strongly) but I never really know beyond that. Maybe??? If I was very, very, very in love with the person? Hence demisexual.

AlternateMew In reply to EscarlataFox [2014-05-28 13:12:46 +0000 UTC]
Yup! Never had a desire for "action" and likely never will. That's probably a big part of why I don't care for shipping. I can't relate to the feeling, so it looses a good amount of power. And cheating. I know it's supposed to be this huge taboo, but I can't for the life of me relate to why.
I have my mind set that if I ever find a 'partner', I need to first make it clear that I intend to stay a virgin and that this 'cheating' thing means zilch to me. They wouldn't need to hide it if they're spending time with another person. Humans are social animals, ya know?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
EscarlataFox In reply to AlternateMew [2014-06-22 10:12:44 +0000 UTC]
Well I mean, of course making a distinction between sexual attraction and romantic attraction. You only need an understanding of the latter in order to be a shipper; then you can ship romantically. But yeah, I understand a lot better now about the lack of interest in shipping you have.
Not sure what to say about you not understanding cheating though... That's certainly something new to me. Well, not entirely. There are polygamous couples and open relationships. But I think not understanding the supposed taboo of cheating is separate from being asexual? It's not my place to say, I just would say that they're not necessarily directly related.
So just to clarify... Say you find a partner, you'd be okay if he had relations with another person? Because of course, simply "spending time with another person" doesn't necessarily mean cheating.
I guess the way I see it (and everyone's perspective is different)... For me being in a relationship, it's about forming a strong emotional and romantic connection with the other person, and to me, this is something special, something only between me and the other person, just between us. It's ours, and ours alone. And that just adds to its sacredness. But if, unbeknownst to me, the other person felt strongly for someone else...? It would be like, well, I'm not the only one. His attention is divided. I'm not as special as I actually thought I was. It would be like a betrayal to me; it would make me feel upset. Do you understand what I mean, at least in theory?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
AlternateMew In reply to EscarlataFox [2014-07-06 03:01:35 +0000 UTC]
Absolutely. Of course that goes farther. Marriage itself just looks like some silly papers to me that get the government involved in your personal life. You can co-habitate and love someone without some document saying so. I know it's something sacred, but it just doesn't hold any real meaning in my mind. And if I were to get a partner, I'm not comfortable with the idea of sharing a bed, but I wouldn't want them to take some oath of abstinence or anything. Or promise not to love anyone else (in either the platonic or physical way). Just seems silly to me.
Last part does make sense, however. The feeling special thing. Though it seems to cause a vicious circle... If a partner finds they like more than one person, and they know you'll be upset if you find out, then they'd keep it a secret perhaps to not hurt you. But then it's keeping big secrets, and that just makes it worse when the secret is discovered. Honestly I'd rather just share someone's affection than have them think they have to hide something like that, but that might just be me. Especially since friendshipping is the highest I go.
Ooh! I do like that one though. Friendshipping. I definitely get more d'aawww out of that in fanfiction/fanart.

Hmm. Marriage is meaningful to me... But I guess that's just because with my first boyfriend, he was really into the whole marriage thing and taught me how meaningful it can be.
And okay. You sound like a pretty easy-going person that someone would be lucky to have - if only there potential other partner they may hypothetically have is just as understanding.

The Clockwork Smurf
Clockwork Smurf's acting up was all Brainy's fault; I can't believe he got away with it - he was never punished or even found out! Especially considering how down Hefty was when Clockwork began malfunctioning. Brainy never gets away with anything no matter how slight; he always suffers and is blamed, so the fact that he actually got away with something like this is surprising. And it feels like he deserves at least some comeuppance too! He's been held accountable and suffered disproportionate retribution over much lesser things so many times! It's so weird...
The Smurfs and the Money Tree
Greedy is a pretty obvious target when it comes to matters regarding greed and all thanks to his namesake, but the greed is only in regards to food. Beyond that, I find it really difficult to imagine him being greedy about anything else - he's just way too nice and easy to get along with, as I see it. I really think his name should have been something more food-oriented, because "Greedy" implied that there is a more mean-spirited side to his personality, which there isn't. And ya know, Brainy's been shown to be pretty damn greedy... XD I daresay he's greedier than Greedy when it's not food (and even then he's had his moments) so he would have been a pretty acceptable target for the money tree too! XD (I almost expected it to go to Brainy's house, haha!)
By the way, see the new picture I've added to Dropbox titled "waat". That's all the stuff that the smurfs gave up to Greedy that supposedly meant the most to them, and as you'll see what I've circled... uhhhh... what??? Keep in mind that can't be a potion; Papa was tempted but he didn't make any actual trades! So what the hell is that, and what the smurf is it doing in the smurf's village in possession of one of the common smurfs???!!! Seriously though!!!!

AlternateMew In reply to EscarlataFox [2014-07-14 02:14:37 +0000 UTC]
The Clockwork Smurf
That is interesting. Especially since he was caught acting like that near Clockwork. They don't catch on to the obvious too well, do they?
Episodes like these, it really shows that Handy is far ahead of his time. Making a full-on sentient robot in the Middle Ages out of wood and gears. Then again, there are times when even Gargamel get a hold of future items, so I guess Cartoon logic for that one.
How did Gerard know the name Clockwork Smurf? He can't talk. Maybe Clockwork is just a descriptor, but Smurf? He shouldn't have known that. Especially if he was locked in a dungeon for so much of his life; I doubt he did much reading, so that outs reading about them... small plothole, you bother me so!
Hefty immediately thinks of direct combat, and all the others are on board except Papa Smurf. Had to note that! And how the heck did they get Gerard those clothes so quickly? Tailor, I presume, but that had to have used quite a lot of resources, not to mention getting it done in a night.
The Money Tree
Agreed in that. His name is Greedy, but that's the one name that doesn't fit at all. Even when it comes to food he isn't greedy; he's the one who cooks everyone's meals every day. He snacks a lot, sure, but he's the one cooking it. And he makes plenty to go around. Since Greedy is actaully a combination of two or three smurfs from the comics, they certainly could have gone with a more fitting name. Baker would have worked. Brainy would have been a far better candidate for the money tree, hands down.
Good grief. Really? Alright, who traded that for chocolate? That's actually doing whoever it was a favor. Chocolate is junk food, but not liquid poison. And if it was a 'most valued possession'? Some smurf needs an intervention!

The Clockwork Smurf
Smurfs are certainly very naive sometimes!
Yeah. But Handy is certainly skilled, no doubting that!
That kinda bugged me too, but I think I just passed it off as being descriptive. It didn't occur to me about the "smurf" part though - you're right.
Thank goodness Papa Smurf is there. I see where you're coming from now with that. It's so easy to cite them to some kind of mass mob!
I'd just say that Tailor's mighty talented.
The Money Tree
Damn you, misleading name!
Well, I wouldn't say the only misleading name. Before actually watching episodes, the name "Brainy Smurf" made me think he was supposed to be an actual genius. I would have never guessed about his know-nothing-know-it-all personality and the other aspects of his personality from that name. Also, "Harmony Smurf". And "Lucky" from the comics was actually incredibly unlucky, losing all his fortunes to gambling and never winning. There's probably more examples, but those are off the top of my head.
Yeah true - not even greedy in regards to food! But yeah, could've definitely chosen a better name for him, especially considering that.
Hahaha, yes. It should have gone to his house so there could be another Brainy-centric episode for me to enjoy... . But anyway. It's ironic that it's actually out of character for Greedy to act, uh... greedy.
...Actually, in retrospect (to my VAST relief), it must actually be a bottle of sarsaparilla! There's identical-looking objects in other episodes and it's referred to as sarsaparilla, so. Dodged a bullet there! Also, probably wasn't a prized possession. Perhaps at that point, the smurf responsible had already given away their prized possession(s), and so were reduced to simply giving up average household things...? But the alternative is... Interesting. But certainly not, in my eyes, canon. (Thank goodness!) But I was certainly a little panicked for a little while there.
Also - "liquid poison". Nice descriptor! I should make note to use that terminology in future.

-Papa Smurf claims there is no such thing as ghosts, and the events do have a logical explanation. However, later on in the series the smurfs encounter ACTUAL ghosts, so…
-When Brainy jumps into Smurfette’s arms! That was…! That was…! I was so surprised and speechless. That seemed to come from absolutely nowhere when he was suddenly all, “Did anyone ever tell you you’re beautiful when you’re mad?”!!! That seemed like a totally un-Brainy-like thing for him to say and it was just so surprising!
In King Smurf, I don’t know why Brainy suddenly gets a look of anger/annoyance on his face in that one scene, as if the smurfs have subtly done something to purposely annoy him, but nothing seems to have happened in that particular moment to cause him to gain that look.
I love The Magic Egg. The hilarity and craziness of what goes on in that episode is just priceless…

-Smurfette volunteers to go with the others, but seems to serve absolutely no purpose whatsoever (such as in regards to rowing) other than just being there. (See: the pictures I’m putting in Dropbox now, the picture titled “smurfetteyoujerk”. Now, what do you see wrong with this picture? Papa Smurf has an excuse; he’s the leader and is guiding the way, but Smurfette doesn’t, and really, they could easily help row together if they wanted because there aren’t odd numbers!)
There’s a scene in an episode, can’t remember which, where the smurfs are swimming/submerged in water, and what you can see of Smurfette’s dress is coloured in blue so it looks like she’s topless!
In Supersmurf, we were told, or it was implied that the potion Brainy had only made him super strong – but then all of a sudden, he could fly too?!
“I hate falling!” – Grouchy as he falls into a river. Gosh, even in a situation like that he doesn’t bat an eyelid and his attitude doesn’t waver. Gotta say, it’s kinda hilarious seeing a scene like that.

Okay, I haven't gotten around to Supersmurf and that's the one holding me up. Instead of leaving you hanging longer, her's a copy-paste of what I have for the rest!
Haunted Smurfs
I believe air is actually pretty dry in the winter.
That was one strong blast from Jokey. It destroyed the entire suit of armor? Yikes.
Props to Lazy for actually moving his bed. Unless he got Hefty to do it.
Papa Smurf translating “Something to smurf”
Papa smurf has white pants, and later, a white nose. He likes white this episode. Haha.
King Smurf
Didn't see the part with Brainy looking annoyed. Where was that?
Greedy and Hefty eat hot dogs: confirmed.
I couldn't have been the only one to think that Brainy bolting up the tree to escape Hefty was adorable and hilarious. And when he dove under the desk shortly after, when Hefty was coming for him again. He can learn, after all! Which also makes Guilty Conscience all that much more powerful after seeing Brainy cower from Hefty in specific right in the show. Yikes.
They built that castle in an afternoon? Did I undestand that right? And the wall?
Also noticed Brainy's choice of color: yellow. The same as Grandpa Smurf later in the series. Is there maybe something to that?
The Magic Egg
Yup, not much to say about this one. Interesting that the first wish was “I want to be rich!” though. I thought smurfs had no need for gold?

I love that French accent. It's so amusing. A character in one of the Sonic cartoons pronounces “fool” the same way and gets similarly picked on for it. You fu-el! Also, “Papa Smeerf”
Hmm. Did you notice when Brainy gets the painting on him, his head is a bit too small/off center from his body? It looks odd.
What happened to Vanity's voice when he spotted Gargamel?

Alright!
Haunted Smurfs
Ahh, okay then.
Hahaha, cartoon logic can be so silly sometimes.
I wouldn't put it past him to have done that.
Ah yeah, nice catch.
So... No comments of Brainy saying that totally un-Brainy-like thing to Smurfette? (Because I'm still not over that tbh. )
King Smurf
Nevermind - it was around 4:37, but I rewatched it and it makes sense to me now; I think it's because the crowd suddenly disperses and there's only one smurf left, thus indicating that no one was there to listen when Brainy was addressing everyone.
Yep.
Oh wow, I barely even noticed that! Thanks for pointing it out - it just seemed to come so naturally.
Also, I've noticed another thing a couple of times in several episodes: Brainy on one of his rants, then he looks around and sees everyone staring angrily at him, in which case he immediately shuts up or cuts off what he was saying. Interesting! So he's clearly not as oblivious as I thought he was to how much annoyance other smurfs feel towards him and his rants. It means he knows they don't want to hear what he has to say at least on some level (and is fully aware on these occasions), so he actually just stops himself from going on. Pretty sure I've seen that happen a surprising amount of times! And it's an indication that he's probably learned from past experience - shut his mouth, before it's too late and he has to get kicked out of the village! Also past experience of the smurfs just not wanting to hear it?
Yeaaaaah, I was thinking the same thing when I watched it. They're certainly... fast/productive builders, huh?
If anything, I guess yellow is just an indication of seniority. Grandpa wears it, being older than Papa Smurf, and I guess it's just the whole idea that wisdom comes with age - or that older people are ranked higher. So Brainy's colour choice might be him trying to indicate seniority on that par - with red being the rank below that. I don't know.
The Magic Egg Yep! Haha.
Painter and Poet
Interesting! Haha.
Yeah, it does look a bit strange.
He sounds like he suddenly turned into an old man.

Thanks for the fave.
By the way, I currently have in my possession a MUST-HAVE book for all smurfologists, called The World of Smurfs: A Celebration of Tiny Blue Proportions. I seriously recommend you check it out; you won't be disappointed. There is so much information in there, as well as priceless little tidbits like animation cells and everything. The author even refers to himself as the world's leading smurfologist - and I think he is deserving of the title, if not because he's apparently seen every single episode - a feat that I have yet to achieve. Plus he's been a fan since early childhood; he watched it back when it was first airing in the 80s. That's some serious dedication right there!
