Let's Talk About Diamond TiaraFor a time, the prissy, bratty spoiled unicorn bully known as Diamond Tiara was one of the most hated characters in the show for just how unapologetically despicable she behaved. While I can understand this view [as I have a similar beef with Principal Cinch from 'Friendship Games'] I never quite had that same level of hatred towards her. To me she was just bland enough and generally got her comeuppance for me to write her off as one of the more stock and lower tier villains. Given that she was also just a child, I was even less inclined to think badly of her as she had plenty of time to grow out of that phase [plus she was nowhere near as bad as D.W. from 'Arthur', whom I despise to this day]
When 'Crusaders of the Lost Mark' aired, I was fairly satisfied with DT's character exploration and turnaround; it made sense to me and I thought her new application of her special talent was a nice touch for the series moving on. Of course, in light of Starlight and every horribly botched

MLP S9 Trailer 2 has DroppedIn this latest trailer for season 9, we learn that the Princesses -in true fanfiction fashion, have decided to retire and put Twilight Sparkle in charge of the whole nation... Primus save us all.. and they've decided to do so now because they are currently in an era of extreme peace and prosperity. They're stepping down because there's no imminent threat on the horizon. And they're putting Twilight in charge... Primus save us all...
Do I even need to say why even presenting this ideas is stupid? Granted, Celestia and Luna seem to be these days a few watts short of a lightbulb, but Twilight honest to goodness is no better, we all know this.
This is something the show should absolutely NOT do given that this is something every franchise HAS TO EARN. Yes, even the more somber version of the show's theme song. The trouble here is that the show HASN'T; for the last three years its dawdled along, gradually regressing all the important characters for the sake of comedy and -more importa

MLP Season 8 - What Went WrongA lot of people have been debating the quality of season 8. But what exactly went wrong? Do I have the answers?

Let's Talk About 'Starlight the Hypnotist'Yesterday I posted a status update talking about the latest MLP short and briefly voicing my utter contempt for the content of the short.
Now I understand that outside of my following, there are probably plenty of people who would strongly disagree with my sentiment, so -plus the fact that I’ve since come up with MANY more things to say since then, I find it appropriate to go into more detail in a comprehensive analysis and breakdown of the problems with the short.
Issue #1 Twilight’s Irrational Fear of Ladybugs
Twilight’s freakouts are nothing new, about as flanderized as a character can get. Usually though, her freakouts are at least tied to something like stress over an imperfect situation or something beyond her control, something that at least makes sense if one considers ‘Lesson Zero’. A panic-induced terror of Ladybugs, however, is something new. This is a very specific fear of something tied to what is really mostly just mild childhoo

MLP Season 9 Will Really be the Last SeasonSomething speculated due to information in the Hasbro leaks a while back is that season 9 will be the final season, and just recently this was confirmed to be true by Equestria Daily. https://www.equestriadaily.com/2019/02/upcoming-my-little-pony-movie-is-not.html
As stated before, my connection to MLP has worn thin to the point where I'm only watching it out of emotional connection and a desire to ride it out till the very end, so when it comes to the final season, I'm not nearly as broken up as many would likely be. Rather, while I am disappointed for a multitude of reasons, I'm also kind of relieved. As you all know, my faith in the show is practically nonexistent, now, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the next season turns out to be even worse than 8, so after learning that its all ending? A part of me at least is relieved that the torment at the sight of good ideas being butchered is at last going to end, to put it in as melodramatic a way as possible.
But of cou

Your thoughts?
MLP The Movie: Canon MisfiresWhile I've made my stance on the MLP movie clear, there's one aspect I've largely ignored, and that's the canonicity with the rest of the series. Mostly I've directed my scrutiny at the value of the story, characters, and even animation because generally its more important that a product hold up on it's own than it is to blend in perfectly with corresponding material [how ever annoying it is when it doesn't...]
Of course, I think we all know that the movie doesn't quite do the best when it comes to staying consistent with the series it claims to attach itself so heavily to.
The biggest reason for this is speculated to be because the movie went into production at the end of season 4 and everyone working on it just didn't really pay attention to the series during production [I myself don't fully buy that]
But whatever the reason, I would simply ignore the canon misfires, judge the movie on it's own merits, and considerate non-canon and be done with it. The problem though is t

Hey there sorry for not responding to your comment sooner than I should. One of the reasons I had a hard time saying anything about it was that it was irrevalent to the franchise. The movie wasn't something spectacular like story wise. The canon misfire wasn't really a concern of mine because that's not important. So for the longest time I was fine with it. It wasn't until the season 8 premiere is where things get dicey. When they decided to canonize the movie (Tempest Shadow, The Storm King, the Hippogriffs) it... isn't something I was expecting. Hell, the Bronalysis Community was pointing this out when they did their review on School Daze. It was more of a concern to the people who haven't seen the movie, and as a result, will miss details that they should have seen.
My thoughts on the journal that Nuva made that I don't have anything to say because the canon screw ups are never a concern of mine.

Do you know that Starlight Glimmer's character was the idea of McCarthy and Larson ?
Would you agree that Starlight Glimmer S5 Finale onward is not the Starlight Glimmer from 'The Cutie Map' (written by McCarthy, teleplay by Larson and sonneborn) cause she was being written by someone other than McCarthy and/or Larson?
Another thing you should know.
Source: tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php…
Starlight Glimmer was originally going to be named Aurora Glimmer, but
Hasbro changed it due to Disney trademarking the name "Aurora ".
- Which is odd, considering Hasbro managed to release a G3 character named "Aurora Mist " without any problems, and the bio on Power Pony Zapp's trading card states that her real name is Aurora.
- According to The Art of Equestria , Starlight's hair was originally just two shades of purple instead of the purple with teal streaks. Also, she had a number of other mane and tail designs, including a Rainbow Dash-inspired look and even one seemingly inspired by Sweetie Belle.
M. A. Larson revealed that Mage Meadowbrook in "The Cutie Map " was originally named Jasmine Flower, which "sounded a little more Eastern". It was changed presumably for "legal reasons" (probably Disney trademarking "Jasmine" as well). That would explain why, when Mage Meadowbrook debuted , she was a completely different character (and race) than initially presented.
Source: tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php…
In the Season 5 premiere, Twilight Sparkle and Starlight Glimmer both mention a Mage Meadowbrook who wielded eight magic items, which Twilight realizes the "Staff of Sameness" was not one of. This plot thread is never touched on again.
When Meadowbrook appears much later, rather than being a unicorn who wields enchanted items she's now an earth pony more akin to a Louisianan Witch Doctor and said magical items aren't even referenced.

Hi there, here's a journal you should check out.
The Bizarre Mess that is 'Cozy Glow'Originally I hadn't intended to talk any further about Cozy Glow because I felt I had talked about all that there was to her when I covered 'School Raze'. However I recently saw the Q&A Jim Miller had on twitter, much of it to do with the S8 finale, and I realized that there was in fact more to talk about.
Cozy is supposedly the season's 'main villain', and while she does appear throughout the season and showcases a lot of very suspicious and duplicitous behavior, she doesn't have that bite or menace of a villain; Starlight Glimmer was a psycho who periodically showed up in the background of S5, and every time Chancellor Neighsay appeared he carried the weight and presence of a villain [however eye-rolling his naked racism was]
But Cozy? At best she felt like a stooge, like an extension of whatever malicious plan Neighsay had for the School of Friendship. She really worked better as Neighsay's pawn then as her own villain.
So when it turns out that Cozy was the main vil
