thanks. Honestly, line work was what I focused a lot of my attention on, and still do, due to my comic book influences. It does make doing art that is softer and more realistic a challenge, esp. since right now I am very much back into the line art. But meh. Maybe I should dust off my comics and give it another shot.

oh I I know what ya mean.. I wanted to be a serealest (sp sorry) or a realist.. in oils lol but waters seemed to be what worked out and man every thing i do..seems to have a cartoony look to it... that's kinda why face painting worked out for me so well I think.. the paints are like working acrylics or opace (dry)waters. Line artiest just amaze me.. how confident and sure you are of your lines... and how clean they come out! I learned a lot that helped my face art from the old version of Chaotic.. and other types of strip style art

Hehehehe. Confident of my lines, eh? I suppose I am now, but you should have seen me before. I think I have to credit a lot of my strength with line art to one of my college art teachers, Mr. Brekke. A lot of people hated him as a teacher, but I really enjoyed what we did, which was exclusively line art with india ink. He graded for smoothness of line, so you learned really quick to polish edges.

See I really would love to take a brush up coarse or two. I had a cupel teachers like the one your taling about lol and boy some artist really dont make good teachers but ya know I would rather take an artist and make a teacher out of them than the other way around wow I had one of those too and boy it took me a cupel years to get out of some of the bad habits she pushed lol. Personally for what its worth which isn't much btw I'm glad you pushed throw
Ohh you know what I would love to see you try is contay (sp) crowns.. with your eye for contrast and maximizing impact I bet you could really amaze every one wow I haven't used this verbiage in a long time and I have rotten spelling to top it off haha my brain is going to need a rest lol

Heh. I've actually done conte' crayons a fair amount. It was one of the things we actually worked with in college. I need to get some larger paper if I'm going to work in them, though. The only large paper I have is a roll of vellum, which is awesome for underdrawings and colored pencil, but not so much for conte' crayon, pastel, and anything else that is a compressed pigment power without wax as a binder.
And I agree. Some artists make horrid teachers. The one that caused me to drop out of college was definately one of them. But I liked Brekke. He was a good teacher, he just was rather picky about certain things.
And yes, chatting here is loads of fun. I should have at least another little goblin pic up in a day or so. I've been drawing loads of the little creatures. Guess I have them on the brain. That, and I want to do some cross-stitches of my art. I have no idea why, and I hardy ever do needlework. But I have the urge, nonetheless. Though I don't really have time, what with christmas presents to finish and a commission for three large pieces for a coworker (yay money!) But now I am going to go poke at the bread I've been baking. Hope to talk to you again!

It's an on again, off again webcomic. I had it on Drunk Duck for a while, and life intervened and I stopped. But I am starting up again, and have several more completed and waiting to be colored and scanned. Just keep an eye on my devart and there will be more.
