Than is only usable in certain sentences, most of the time the correct word is then. Like "We saw a movie and then went out for dinner." or "The glasses are $100, and then there is sales tax."

One instance that I read in one of the early chapters was something to the effect of “we’d better get going than.”

I’ve been reading, and finished, your RWBY reader insert series. I liked the fact that it was well worded and the narrative flowed well. My only critique I guess is, what I refer to as, “the escalation for interest.” Which in the case here is the reader is the son of the winter maiden, and that fine, I can work with that, he has snow powers, that’s cool. But then there’s the whole snow storm over Beacon because he has part of the maiden’s power and then later he goes back to the pocket dimension. Btw, that’s all cool, I still like it, but now it seems like he can do anything and therefore that removes the element of danger. Because we think, “oh, don’t worry, he can just magic away the problem.”
Again, I don’t hate the story. I just want to see a fixed limit to his abilities.
And if it isn’t to much of a bother, could you do the same and read my Damien the Renegade series. I would also very much appreciate feedback as well.

As for your mention on the reader's 'talent', his powers are still limited to actual usage of Aura, where using up too much or doing some powerful stunt will leave him completely depleted and tire him out when he's too extreme.
As for your renegade series, I'll try to do the same for you when I can, alright? Life is not giving me unlimited time right now....
