Yup. Been riding since I was two or three, but didn't really start until I was eight or nine.

Not necessarily a 'favorite' by any means, but something to keep an eye on. I don't know exactly how to explain it, but having soft hands is something very important to me now as I hit a huge bump in the road with the mare I ride due to her having her mouth yanked on several times when a young girl rode her for a couple lessons + a show.

of cause you're right. soft hands are very important... i nearly couldn't believe it, when i saw it. a newspaper now had note on one of the riders, what is very important, i think, to make people keep those things in mind.

It makes me sick. There's one girl who used to ride with my barn, and she had very hard hands. She quit (because our horses would do nothing for her since she relied on her hands), and we keep up with each other over YouTube. She is leasing a four or five year old, already jumping her two foot, and had a shank bit in her mouth.
She switched to a loose ring snaffle, and then had her in a full cheek when I saw her at a show today. But still - a shanked bit? The "trainer" is severly lacking in basic horsemanship.

sounds like you can be quite happy she's not longer riding your horse...
i know i have to learn, too. but i'm riding english, what is no excuse ofcause. but even there i get taught to let my handy go and concentrate on my hips and legs sometimes, because thinking of everything, especially hands, is so difiicult.
in my summerholidays in august i'll try some western lessons... and i'm really curios about it...

As long as you follow the rules in my journal, and upload the art on dA so I can fave it, then yes.

You have great photos!
I was looking for references for series of my fantasy pieces. Is it OK if I use them as a reference?
Horses are beautiful, but sooo hard to draw without references...
