First YouTube, Deviantart Next...?You've probably heard about how C.O.P.P.A (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) is cracking down on YouTubers to an extreme level-especially to where they will punish those undeserving.Β
First of all, let me be clear about C.O.P.P.A: its existence IS necessary, it does NOT "give parents an excuse to be lazy and not monitor their kids." We should NOT disband the protection act because it DOES help protect kids from being preyed on by advertisers (they like to utilize cookie/history info and we SHOULD prevent another ΒΉ"Joe Camel"), child predators (they would LOVE any info that could clue them onto a child's location) and so on. It's not the act itself that is the problem, but how it's being executed currently-namely, it's enacted to where it becomes more birthing of consequences than something that eliminates them. Our objective is NOT to demand the internet stop protecting children, our objective is to prevent the people behind C.O.P.P.A from being overly strict to where
