ummm. i really don't know how to answer that. i usually just pick a few references for pose and expression, make a sketch then just build colour till it looks right.
I have a few videos of the colouring part if that helps any? Sometimes i livestream for my friends and when i do i usually make the video into a speedpaint afterwards.
