I'm actually contemplating deleting both my accounts, since I hardly even get 2 favorites on an art peice, while my ex-girlfriend gets about 25 favorites on a stupid My Little Pony doodle.

Woah no way! You shouldn't let fads and newbs on dA make you feel that way about your art, and it shouldn't be about favorites. My stuff hardly gets favorites at all. The only one that did get a lot was a parody I did on someone else's work haha. And the only reason it did get so much attention was because I got some friends to put it on just about every group they could.
You should submit your art because you want others to see it and to be proud of it, not just to get faves and stuff. Look for some groups like OP or that would fit your art well and start there. You can get good critique from them as well as some feedback on your stuff. You can also see other's work and go from there on how you want to progress in your own work. There's a lot you can do on this site other than pander to the fads.

It's not sop much the lack of attention, as it seems that most of what the majority want on here is fan art, while well-deserving artists go unnoticed.
