Enjoy the summer work that goes with it. Definitely start that a month before school starts again; it takes a while. Do you want a Cliff Note AP Bio book too? I have one that is just collecting dust.

I have a random camera-related question. Well it's sort of related. Anywho, I need a camera bag that fits both cameras and they keep advertising this new-fangled dApro camera bag. I read the feedback and whatnot but I honestly don't know enough about these camera backpack things to know whether or not it's worth buying and I was wondering if you did.

I didn't. I went with the Lowepro Versapack [link] . I wasn't really into the sling or the top loading, but I needed a backpack for hiking and trips, etc. I wanted extra space in the bag to put other things, so that limited the bags available. In addition to the Versapack, Lowepro has their Slingshot and Fastpack series, and I also found I liked the Vanguard Up-rise 34 and 43 [link] . If you find a bag that claims to hold 3-4 lenses, you would probably be able to get two camera bodies in their with 2 other lenses.

I did look at the Slingshot and Fastpack. I don't really need other space, I just need a decent backpack to take with me on my various Europe trips this year. I thought the toploading thing was alittle odd, but I didn't know there were ones with it on the side. Those seem much better. The Up-rise looks good except it says it can only fit 1-2 lenses besides. Would that be enough space?

It depends on what you want to bring. I own a large number of lenses at the moment, but it becomes impractical to carry them all around with me. I usually run with the 18-55mm, the 50mm, and either a 60mm or 105mm. That set would fit in a bag with 1-2 lenses spaces and the camera with attached lens. If you want more space, there is also the Up-rise 43 with a 3-4 lens capacity. I've found the best way to shop for camera bags is to go to a store where there is a large selection, physically put all your equipment in the bag, and put it on your back. B&H would be a great place to do this, but there is the distance issue.

I have 5 lenses in total- 18-55mm, 50mm, and 70-300mm for my Nikon and a 50mm and 75-205mm macro for my new Minolta- and in all likelihood I wont have them all with me. Probably the 3 smaller ones. That does seem the best way to do things, but according the internet B&H doesn't carry Vanguard. The Vanguard site also gave vague internet stores in terms of where to buy their product, so I'm not really sure where else to find it. Distance is also a problem, although I might end up in the city sometime in January so I could probably head over to B&H at some point.

Adorama [link] is where I get most of my stuff, and they sell the Vanguard equipment if you are still interested. The store is actually a few blocks from B&H and their prices slightly better (B&H is the best reference for gear), so service is the same.

That was one of the links the Vanguard site told me to go to. I'll probably end up going to them both then, provided my parents don't mind. I think I'm leaning toward the Vanguard, but I guess I won't really know until I try it.
Thanks for putting up with my vast assortment of questions, by the way. I really appreciate it.

No problem about the questions; I enjoy answering them. Some other brand you might look at if you go to the physical store are Kata, Tamrac, and perhaps Crumpler (I'm not a fan, but they might suit your purposes well).

LadyBananaCucumber In reply to Caraway [2009-12-29 16:19:32 +0000 UTC]
Thanks. I looked at Crumpler but it looked like you were paying more for the brand than quality. I also briefly looked at Tamrac, but the ones I found were all mini-sized. Would these be at B&H and Adorama?

Caraway In reply to LadyBananaCucumber [2009-12-29 19:42:22 +0000 UTC]
Tamrac has some bigger bags. I looked at the Aerospeed 3385 and Expedition 4x, which would hold your gear but are more expensive. The specific bags might not be at the stores, but both companies carry each of the brands I mentioned (with the Vanguard and B&H exception).
