I got to "Save for the web" and from there I save it as a GIF. There are tabs at the top and it says optimized.

I normally save my GIF and other similar files through 'save optimized as' Sometimes it comes out cleaner.

I have cs4 - I used to do save optimized as but that was in adobe illustrator I think way back when it was attached with cs2 I think. ;x

Hmmm... I worked with CS4 a little but it slowed my computer down too much and I switched to something a little more space saving. I'll go and try to find something about the transparencies. lol
