Agh, I was totally going to message you and ask how your retreat was going! Is it really nice being on break? What have you been up to? Do you think you'll be going back to Northern?
I finished watching all of Natsume, I couldn't remember if I told you or not...!
Um, it's been well, I guess! I don't care for resolutions of the new year kind but mine is art! I've been looking at photograph references online to practice anatomy and poses/gestures and such (bodies in motion, actually), and I think I'm improving. I THINK. A little bit.
I'm really trying to improve my line work too.
I've also been reading quite a bit! I read Coraline and Tuck Everlasting and all of Kimi ni Todoke, it's so wonderful, warms your heart straight up!<3

Its sure nice being back, I just need to work on being more productive haha... and I'm not going back this semester, not sure if things will change but I don't plan on going back at all (maybe I'll take classes somewhere else sometime) I have been thinking about visiting Zach in Texas, not sure if I will or when yet.
haha no you didn't tell me! It was good wasn't it?! I'm so glad that another season is airing right now...
ah that's great, I need to make some art goals myself and try hard as well, I'm sure you hard work is paying off! I need to do the same T_T I did start sketching some things in my sketchbook a couple days ago and I think I'm going to begin getting back into the habit if drawing every day again, I want to practice drawing portraits too!
Recently I've watched Kimi ni Todoke, it was super cute I will probably end up reading it sooner or later too
I'll probably try to start uploading stuff soon

Well, you should think about things, what you really want to do and where you really want to go! No need to rush, just let yourself kind of figure it out. That would be cool for you to visit him!
It was very good! I love Natsume so much! I own the first three volumes of the books, but I feel like I should have read them first...(each new chapter has the same introduction about how he see's spirits though, so it's a little redundant).
Me too! I'm with ya! There are so many art books I've run across at work that I'm dying to buy, but can't! Portraits would be awesome!
It it is simply adorable, you really should read them too! I haven't seen the show yet, but it's on my 'to watch' list (with everything else!)

well its on my left hand, but it feels a little better now (lol I cut it with a plastic knife... how pathetic is that?). I'm taking painting, sculpture, ceramics, german, and art history 3. It sounds fun, but I'm just a little concerned about art history and sculpture, since the art history is writing intensive /sigh.

well not really down, I'm trying to be posative about everything
well... I was cutting a banana and it slipped onto my finger, and bam! It was pretty deep for plastic knife and hurt a lot, but it didn't bleed for some reason :/
How are things going for you? are you adjusting pretty well?

Well, that's good! Do you have any projects you're working on, like, for yourself? Or just what you've been uploading?
Injuries can be pretty odd sometimes!
Things are well, except I need to get another job. Walmart was very unhelpful in transferring but I'm working at B&N now. I just need to correlate a schedule.
It's hard not buying things whenever I want to! I haven't drawn much lately, so I feel kinda bad about that. Trying to get back in the mindset...

well we haven't really had any assigments or projects yet in any of my classes, since they started on like mmm tuesday. I haven't had anything I've been working on my tablet except what I uploaded so far. Working at B&N sounds like a good job, since you like books

I was working on some doodles, but I'm not in love with how they turned out colored (well, in the process)...

yeah... well just keep trying different things, at least that's what I'm trying to do
and sometimes you just don't feel like it, I get that a lot so I just look at other peoples work (sometimes in envy o.o) or find a tutorial and try that for something new.

It IS really frustrating at first. The only way to get better is to just keep doing it, but I think if you have a balance between paper-pencil and tablet, you'd be awesome. I think when you draw with a tablet, there is a strong tendency to just get frustrated and have the lines the way the computer does it vs. making them your own, y'know?
Try drawing in a looser/sillier style, just to kind of flex it out. That might help 8T

yeah, I'll try! >.< Thanks for the advice, the computer does make it hard but I won't give up! Doing sketches/basic ideas with pencil and paper will make it easier, I think

I always felt like, when I drew for a bit on the tablet, I had improved a lot on paper. The tablet is pretty challenging, but you'll definitely get there. And in the meantime, you're on-paper skills will benefit a lot too!
