I'm trying to make one myself for a cosplay and your's is pretty useful. what wood did ya use anyways?

For all of the wrenches, I made them out of pine wood. Nothing fancy, just as long as it has no problems with it. You might even want to upgrade to select, with no notches or blemishes. Pine is cheap, abundant, and quite forgiving. It's also really easy to cut (comparatively) to other woods. It's also flexible, so you might be able to drop it on the floor a few times before it breaks.
Right now, I'm using cherry wood on everything. It's a nice hardwood that looks great and isn't too hard to work with. However, its hardness makes it rather brittle, but its strength is still well above pine wood.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is, if you've done woodworking before, go ahead and use something a hardwood like cherry. If you're new to woodworking, or need to get the project done cheaply, a nice 2" x 6" select piece of pine from a hardware store will fulfill your needs.

The only real difficulty you'll have is with the bolt; I actually just glued in a 3" bolt for it. If you have a bandsaw or something that can make odd cuts, then this project should be simple. Good luck!

I once made a tiny wrench from nothing but hand tools ([link] ), but you'll really want a power tool on this. That little thing took about five hours to do, and my hand was killing me for days afterwards. Anyway, in terms of tools: Bandsaws start around $300, so it's quite expensive. I picked up a scroll saw, though, for $70. Scroll saws do finer work than a bandsaw, and you can do some cool tricks with it, like cutting out portions on the inside of whatever you're working on. It's just much slower, as the tiny blade doesn't cut too fast. If I were to recommend one, the scroll saw would be best.

actually I was talking this whole thing over with a friend who cosplays alot and they suggested foamboard instead of wood.
I'll still use your wrench outline to help me out tremendously.

That's actually the only picture I've got of it, and I've lost most of the templates. After making around 12 of those wrenches, though, I can tell you what you'll need if you need any clarifications. Also, you could go to the TF2 wiki and find a picture of a wrench there.
