Ah, I went bowling with friends, then ate at a local restaurant with them, my younger sister and her friends. Finally we played a few card games until one friend got so tired that he wanted me to drive him home early. It ended the festivities a bit short, but I was nodding off too, so it was for the best. Probably one of the better New Years I’ve had.

XD That's okay, I've been pretty lazy when it comes to checking my internet accounts. LOL

I'm decent, same old same old. Lots of character designs, working on story boards, practicing backgrounds, all that fun stuff. Job hunting can be so frustrating sometimes but hopefully it doesn't take to long for someone to hire you. And dude, I know exactly what you mean. XD I've been playing a lot of video games too. ^_^

Ah well, hopefully something promising will come along. Maybe I shouldn't limit myself to just writing-related jobs? As much as I don't want to be a tutor forever, I DO have just under 2 years experience as a tutor, so maybe I should invest in a job with more tutoring duties?

Oh, what games have you been playing?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Chizulfizulbokun In reply to The-Bloody-Bishop [2019-01-05 03:54:43 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, if I limited myself to art related jobs I would never get a job without moving to a whole other state! I honestly wouldn't mind doing that BUT that would require a pretty large amount of money and luck. I know you like to write but I figured you wanted to be a writer, what kinds of jobs involving writing were you hoping for?

Minecraft and Shelter 2 mostly, occasionally Pokemon. You?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

The-Bloody-Bishop In reply to Chizulfizulbokun [2019-01-08 19:26:13 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I was thinking about a job like content writer? I could write about a variety of stuff, like restaurant menus and recipes or computer manuals. Honestly, being a content writer would be a super flexible job that could help push me towards being a creative writer or a related field. Content writers can also work in small groups, so it would give me experience with working with groups of people on writing.Β

Mostly Dark Souls 2 and Monster Hunter World. Though now that I've beaten most of Dark Souls 2 save the DLC (which I'll do in my spare time), I'll focus on Monster Hunter. I might also start Dark Souls 3.Β

Cool, writing something in a group sounds challenging. In school I was never good with group projects cause aside from getting stuck with the laziest assholes ever I was also picky about whatever we were working on cause I wanted it to be right and not a bunch a random crap smashed into a paragraph that made no sense. XD

I think I've seen my bro play the Monster Hunter World one and Dark Souls sounds familiar but I myself haven't played those ones before.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

The-Bloody-Bishop In reply to Chizulfizulbokun [2019-01-11 00:03:09 +0000 UTC]

Heh, truly we are those that suffer the most from group projects. XD I once had a project where everyone agreed to tell the teacher that one student only spent maybe three hours helping with the project. When I met the guy by accident the next semester, he complained to me that the teacher was a b***h for failing him. I didn't have the courage to tell him that he was failed because HE WAS A LAZY ASSHOLE.Β

I would recommend Monster Hunter World to you first. Its a hard game that requires plenty of skill, sure, but with enough grinding, you could make enough strong armor and weapons to take on almost any challenge. Dark Souls, on the other hand, really requires you to learn the game inside-and-out in order to beat it, since many of the monsters can kill you in two to three hits, you will never deal as manage damage as the monsters, and there are a lot of ambushes and tricks across the whole game designed to kill you.Β

RIGHT!?!?!?!? They always get super pissed like it wasn't their fault!!!! LMAO I once had one group project where there were three of us and I was the only one that did ANYTHING! The other two were friends and they just ran off to hang out when we were supposed to be working on the project. When it came to the due date and I went up to the teacher to turn it in the teacher was like, "Your team mates told me that you had everyone's part of the project to turn in." and I was strait up like, "That's because I did the whole thing by myself, they didn't do ANYTHING." and I made sure I said it loud enough so the whole class could hear me. My "Team Mates" were not happy. XDDDD

I don't think I have the right system for the game cause when my bro moved out he took all his systems with him. XDDD And yeah, that sounds familiar. LOL Pretty sure the last time I heard someone talking about Dark Souls they were complaining about how they keep dying.

The-Bloody-Bishop In reply to Chizulfizulbokun [2019-01-13 17:41:39 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that kinda BS just shows you what type of "friends" you have. Even if they aren't concerned about their own grades, they are surely aware that their failure to work will affect your grades, and if they STILL don't care after that, well then they're just a**holes.

Ahaha, that may or not have been me, since I recall talking to you about playing the Dark Souls remastered a while back. And whenever I get into Dark Souls 3, I imagine I'll be more upset, since its apparently the hardest of any of the Dark Souls. Well, no, that's not QUITE true. Typically Dark Souls is ranked in difficulty like this from easiest to hardest:

1.) The original game, Demon Souls, which is hard since it was FromSoftware's first game, so they weren't completely clear on how to properly balance the gameplay difficulty. Anyone who used a magic build could cheese the game and win without really trying.Β
2.) Dark Souls 2, which is hard since it has the most booby-traps and many areas have many enemies, so the chances are greater that one enemy will get a lucky shot in after the other enemies exhaust your healing items or that you'll be overwhelmed by their numbers (fighting 3 or more enemies at once can often lead to death).
3.) Dark Souls 3/Bloodborne are tied for difficulty, since the early game is really hard and the later bosses have more complicated AI and a wider moveset than any other bosses in the series.
4.) Dark Souls 1, since the game gave the least amount of health items, there were fewer ways to cheese the game, the later bosses had a wide moveset, and a few glitches could get you killed.Β

Other than that... anything else you wanna chat about? I didn't expect to rattle on about the Soulsborne series, but I'm blanking on what to say next in this conversation. ^_^"

Honestly, I think they both thought I would just let it slide, they were gravely mistaken. XD

OMG I hate it when you're playing a game and totally rockin' it and a friggen GLITCH gets you killed. It's at that point when I start to rage. XDDDDDD Those are usually the games where you wind up having to start over ALL THE WAY back at the beginning too.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, my mind is a blank at the moment.

The-Bloody-Bishop In reply to Chizulfizulbokun [2019-01-18 18:16:49 +0000 UTC]

Well Dark Souls and Bloodborne can offer two or three check points across a level, but there are some levels that have only one check point. The game mitigates this by allowing the player to open any short cuts that they find along the way; so long as someone can find the short cut(s) that is. This does encourage the player to explore each level and look for other clues for shortcuts, which are often levers, switches, or previously locked doors. It admittedly gives a good sense of progression through a level, and given how the player character can outrun most enemies, it is possible to run past enemies after every short cut is opened.

Of course, enemies can still attack a player character as they run, and that can result in them being caught in an attack and possibly overwhelmed. It can also lead to chip damage, which can hurt when someone is fighting a boss. Dark Souls 2 is also probably the worst in terms of "running past enemies," since many of the enemies in the game have a large aggro range: for example, on the early Heide's Keep level, enemies will literally follow you halfway across the level if you don't fight and kill them. And since enemies can attack someone as they enter a boss room, and therefore interrupt the entrance animation, that can result in someone dying very easily.

... backstab attacks usually do more damage than attacks to the chest too.Β

And yeah, mine too. ^_^" I'm mostly thinking about how frustrating it is to find a job when many jobs require prior experience in said job. I feel like "entry level" jobs shouldn't require someone to have between 1-8 years experience in the industry just to get an average job. Its painful to get silently regretted time and again, but I just have to keep beating at the door until someone gives me a chance.

Well, that sounds downright miserable. ^_^" Even during my time living in New York, I never recall the temperatures dropping down that low. I hope things improve soon. What are you doing to stay warm?

I do, I do so much. I mean, businesses can hire whoever they like and they DO spend money on training people on-site even if they already have work experience, but keeping out newbies who just cannot get their foot in the door seems pretty limiting. Its stuff like that which requires a reference or pre-existing family member/friend to already work at that business. Like I might not have gotten my first job at Steak n Shake if my younger sister didn't work there. At a freakin' Steak n Shake (i.e. fast food restaurant). I can only hope that I can get a job soon, because the longer I go without work, the worse it looks on my resume overall.

It was yesterday and the day before that, today we're finally out of the negatives. From what I've heard we're supposed to get up to 50 on Monday and everyone is excited. ^_^

Yeah, the first job I worked my dad worked there too so he got me in. Getting a job when you don't have experience is damn near impossible.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

The-Bloody-Bishop In reply to Chizulfizulbokun [2019-02-09 16:38:47 +0000 UTC]

Oh, did you manage to get up to the 50s like predicted? I hope so, some cold weather is welcome in winter, but being frozen over is pretty darn intense. I hope no one got seriously hurt, although I suspect that's a naive dream. ^_^"Β

I did take an interview last Thursday, but I'm afraid the driving distance and the pay just weren't worth it. It honestly seems that every place that I DO hear back from either pays too little or is too far away to justify working there. I honestly hope I can if I get a job as a cook again, that I can work in a professional place like a hotel. At a place like Steak n Shake, any upward mobility only would earn me an extra dollar of pay from minimum wage, or a manager position. The same thing at NetTutor. If I could work as a cook in a hotel, I could at least climb up in positions and earn decent moment that way.Β

Yeah, that's usually how it goes. For the price of living nowadays no one gets paid anywhere near enough for it to be worth it. One of my friends works in a hotel, she seems to like it so far.
