I couldn't help reading your journal on the new Super Smash on my way down to your comment box, and I'm SO glad someone feels the same! I can't help but feel like it's unjustified, having no story to bind all of the characters together. It was done so well in Brawl that I cried. CRIED. I'm glad we'll have videos for all the newcomers, but it's simply not enough.
But I believe there's hope. Look at Nintendoland. It does an excellent job of taking all the core elements of Nintendo's most treasured IPs and combines them into this polished, perfect and fun game without the need for knickknacks. If Nintendo thinks they can outdo their old work without Adventure Mode, then they've GOT to have something amazing in store to replace it. (Besides HD graphics and a freaking 3DS VERSION OH MY GOD IF THEY THINK THAT'S GOOD ENOUGH I'M JUMPING OVERBOARD ON THE S.S. MIYAMOTO)
So buck up, because even though Nintendo has screwed us around in the past, they deserve a second chance. Hell, they could turn right around and give us more Mario/Sonic interaction than we can handle. Like in-battle dialogue! Or a Sonic return-challenger trailer or unlock cutscene! Or character-select-screen animations! Maybe the company mascots (Mario, Sonic, Megaman, Snake?) will have a special thing goin' on like in Event 51!
In 'Tendo we trust.

Well at least one of us still sees the bright side. BTW there's not gonna be any DLC for Smash Bros. So any hope of Adventure mode on it is down the toilet. I'm just so bummed out by all of this. I hope they reconsider and give us something resembling and adventure mode with character interactions.

They can give us all the HD graphics and new characters they want, I have this feeling in my gut that they KNOW they have to replace adventure mode with something just as good. It's the new Super Smash Bros., the Wii U installment of their most valuable intellectual property! They're out to impress us, here, just you watch.

I hope so. I know I'm not the only one who still wants adventure mode. They can't just make a decision like this and completely ignore all the negative feedback. They have to give us SOMETHING. And for God's sake, let them just make ONE cutscene with Mario and Sonic together!

I can't say I won't miss adventure mode.
In the latter half of 2007 and the beginning of 2008, I had Brawl posters on my wall, it's all I would talk about with my friends, and I checked the DOJO! website every few hours (or few minutes, depending). I squealed, I d'awwwed, I exclaimed "THAT IS SO AWESOME," even when they would reveal someone like Fox or Samus. 
And then I heard about The Subspace Emissary... I have never been so delighted.
CUTSCENES. BOSS BATTLES. CROSSOVERS OF THE HIGHEST CALIBER!!! Fox and Diddy fighting off a RAYQUAZA!!! Meta-Knight and Marth crossing blades! And a ferocious showdown between Mario and Link, at long last!!! And BOSS BATTLES!!!!
I'm going to miss it, but I have faith in Nintendo. They know that Brawl was one of their crowning achievements for all of these reasons, and I have faith that they won't leave us hangin'.

I still can't believe they can take something so awesome and just chuck it out the window because of Youtube! I hope they listen to the feedback and reconsider but at this point I think I'll just give up on my dreams of a better adventure mode with Sonic and Mario. I'll just get hurt and disappointed otherwise. What's the point? -_-

Mario and Sonic are internationally famous and loved. They're gonna be around forever. Even if it doesn't happen in Smash Bros. for Wii next year, EVENTUALLY they are going to meet up for an adventure. 
...For the record, even if it isn't particularly cinematic, I hear there will be an adventure mode of some sort, besides Classic. That information is SO vague, that there has to be SOMETHING wonderful to hope for!
