Thanks, and yeah, I've been criticized before for lack of backgrounds, so with the art I'm doing now I'm trying to add more of a setting. Yup, they're actually just colouring pencils for kids, lol.

I've been pretty good. It's finally summer and I've been surprisingly busy, I joined a pool this year, so I'm doing a lot of swimming and volunteering there. How are you doing?

Well, pencila are all right, but then again, you want to make sure they're good quality and colors are not a problem - just buy more!

That's good to hear you're getting something done. Pretty funny where I live, it's the opposite season (which is Winter), so I'd be mad if I were swimming.
Right now, I'm just having it hard because this year, exams are in my face all the time, which is why I'm sacrificing my holidays to brush up my skills for them.

As far as my art goes, I'm in a big creative slump.

Hehe I use Crayola ones They're nothing special but they work well. I'm trying to make use of what I already have and improve on my technique before I invest on more expensive ones

Aw that sucks. You're in school now then? Hope it's going well then. Damn, I haven't even thought about anything school related for almost a month. Although I'm doing a lifesaving course so we have to study all this medical stuff.

Art-wise I have some vague ideas and concepts in my head, but I can't seem to find the time or motivation to really sit down for a few hours and draw them out I'm gonna make time and start something tomorrow though

Yes, I am actually in school right now though. Lifesaving, hm? Doesn't sound bad, but I'd bet the real joy is to get on a surfboard.

I feel the same, but it's not the motivation that bugs me - it's the fact that I have to suspend it for a hefty amount of time. But yeah, ideas will come to you in time. Do make a start and don't leave a picture unfinished or you won't be feeling good.

You know, if I ever have enough money to blow, I'd definitely spend it on some good reliable art supplies. And probably some clothes too, haha. Right now though, living off my parents, I feel bad if I ask too often for luxuries like better pencils and brushes. I usually get that stuff for Xmas or my birthday, or when they're on sale

Surfing looks awesome. Too bad I don't live near an open ocean, but I'm thinking of trying it out when I go to California in a few months

Very true. I'm working on something right now but I have to take long pauses while I'm at other commitments. Kills the momentum a little. But yes, I'll make sure I finish it. :]

I actually do feel the same in regards to money. It won't be until 4 more months until I can work my ass off for some cash. And by then, I'd slip into debt.

Moving to California, hm? Damn you're lucky. Where I live, there's never a shortage of beaches. Yes, surfing is awesome, even more so if you're doing it standing. Did some surfing, but my body was mostly on the board as opposed to being on your knees or feet.

I noticed I forgot to answer how cold Australian winters are. I'll tell you that it's nothing compared to what Canada would be like, because we don't get snow (but we do have snowy mountains).

The "breaks" can be annoying. But hey, it's not like we're disciplining ourselves to do the art all the time.

Not moving to California! That WOULD be pretty lucky, but nah. Just vacationing I wanna look into taking some surf lessons while I'm there. Too bad I won't be able to get very good in such a short time, I'll probably do most of it on my stomach, haha. D'aww I want to visit Australia so badly! I like where I live though, because it gets really really hot in the summer, and really really cold in the winter, there's different things to do year round.

HA! I was right when I told my friend that some parts of Australia get snow! Only the mountains, but still.

I ain't got a summer job yet, blame school for it all . Though I'll take whatever opportunities that come up.

A vacation to California isn't that bad either, nor is moving there permanently.
Australia is a really great country to be if you've got a great interest in surf, believe me.

It does? Well, Australian summers are insane, but Australia does get pretty temperate as well - it's got its fair share of cold winters.

Yeah, Australia's winters aren't that special, but are enjoyable nonetheless.

I go to Asian countries like China, Indonesia and the like because Australia is geographically close to those places. Not more than some 10 odd hours to fly there. Plus, I'm Asian by heritage, so it's perfectly natural for me to be part of Asian countries.

2 hour drive? That really isn't very long.

I don't remember that, but yeah, it really does. I did visit China some other time and it was really amazing. This year I visited Hong Kong and Taiwan, and returned back to my home country Indonesia.

Apologies for leaving you hanging, just got back from vacation not too long ago!

That's a similar case to me, I mean I speak in Mandarin at home and go to Chinese school on Saturdays, but when I'm actually in China, I sound like a blundering idiot. Even my French is loads better than my Chinese since I speak it regularly here.

Oh and I started school again Just as we've hit a major heatwave. And since we're usually in school during the colder months of the year, we don't have air conditioning... it's a living hell! Hahahaha

Aww that's too bad, but yes I'm sure it'll get better. Getting your license sounds awesome! I think they made some law here on how you can start driving at 16, but you can't actually get your license or drive alone until 18 -.-

I do believe in global warming, yes. But one of the reasons why I think Canada is cold is its proximity to the North Pole. Huh.

Not in Australia it ain't - 16 is the driving age, although some politicians debate on raising the driving age (which is stupid). Then you need to wait a year, drive for 120 hours and pass a test so you can drive alone.
That's weird in your country. You can drive unlicensed at 16? Whoa.

Personally I don't think you can "believe" in global warming. It's not a religion or faith, it's a phenomenon that's actually happening whether you believe it or not. o_o Lol anyway yeah Canada is close to the North Pole, but it's also a really really big country in terms of land mass. So while some places way up north are frozen year-round, pretty much all of the large cities are in the Southern part, near the States. We've always had pretty hot summers where I live, but in recent years they've been noticeably longer, and we've had a lot less snow in the winter too :/ Which is why I made reference to global warming

It's a pretty recent law, I'm actually not sure about the details. Basically at 16 you can take lessons and a theory test to get a learner's permit, which lets you drive, but only if you have a licensed driver with you. So I guess it's similar to what they do where you live, except with an extra year? Sorry for being unclear before, we're not that crazy here

That is something I understand, it's treatable like 2012 (not that I believe in that). I guess the amount of snow you get does make sense based on how close you are to the poles. Still, you get much more snow than us, because the last time I heard of snow in Australia, it was at 3am or so and everyone was like "WTF?"

Right, that makes more sense. I guess I'm either in an urgent need to drive, or whatever.
