Hi. How’s everything? What are your opinions on Season 23 so far?

Cybrawler253 In reply to Midnight-Lovestruck [2019-11-05 00:49:33 +0000 UTC]

Eh, I like the scenes with the kids, but I think Randy's become my least favorite character now.

Midnight-Lovestruck In reply to Cybrawler253 [2019-11-05 02:03:16 +0000 UTC]

If the title of the upcoming episode is anything to go by, it’ll most likely mean the last of Tegridy Farms. I still like Randy, but he’s hogged up too much screen time.

I hope there’s at least a Kenny episode this season. What I’d love to see is an episode focused on him and his relationship with his older brother.

I know, and I couldn't be happier about that. It took awhile, but I finally saw what everyone else was talking about with how much the adult characters were overshadowing the child characters.

Same, The Scoots was my favorite episode of last season for that reason. And yeah, we really have no idea what his relationship with Kevin is like, they never interacted much.

Midnight-Lovestruck In reply to Cybrawler253 [2019-11-05 15:29:10 +0000 UTC]

I like to think they have a good relationship. Some people have this idea of Kevin being like Shelly, which I disagree with.

Yeah, we've never seen Kevin abuse Kenny the way that Shelly does Stan. The only person we've seen him be violent with was his dad, only because they were both drunk. At least they seem to get along somewhat in the few scenes we see them in, like when the two of them are playing in their yard in "Here Comes the Neighborhood," and both of them laughing at their parents fighting in "Chickenlover."

What were your thoughts on Season 23? Disappointed that we didn't get a Kenny episode. But, at least we got to see him. Now we have to wait another several months for the next season.

I'm honestly just glad he survived the season.

Midnight-Lovestruck In reply to Cybrawler253 [2019-12-16 04:02:16 +0000 UTC]

So am I. Kenny’s role in this season was similar to how it was in Season 21. He doesn’t get an episode, but he does get a memorable moment/scene in one of the episodes. Season 21 it was “Holiday Special” and this season it was “Turd Burglars”.

Midnight-Lovestruck In reply to Cybrawler253 [2019-11-06 01:26:35 +0000 UTC]

I know. They seem to be on civil terms with each other.

Imagine an episode where Kevin goes on a mission to rescue Kenny. We often see Kenny being Karen's caretaker/protector, so it'd be nice to see it the other way with Kevin and Kenny.

Imagine this as a plot: School's ended, and Kenny doesn't get home right away. The McCormicks don't think much of it, as it's not unusual for Kenny to go and spend time with his friends after school. When Kevin hears from an upset Karen that Kenny hasn't come home, he gets worried and sets out to find his little brother, even if it means traveling out of South Park to find him. And Kevin will find him.

SAME. Though I'm also pissed about the Meowth one. Like seriously? Why do they have to keep trying to buff unevolved degenerates?! I am fine with Charizard and Butterfree due to them being fully evolved, though. It's updates like these that make me glad I'm not buying either of these games, I'm sick of all the unevolved pandering.

MelanieDirge In reply to Cybrawler253 [2019-10-18 12:57:59 +0000 UTC]

I hate how Eevee's effect is to make opponents infatuated- PUSHING it as the 'cute' one. Isn't Sylveon not cute enough?!

But yeah, Charizard and Butterfree look cool though. (Charizard gives me shinegreymon vibes in a good way with its burning wings).

Meowth may be iconic as a villian sidekick yes, but it annoys me that they had to give it a dynamax evo - persian was already cool. Plus its dynamaxed form looks like a certain outdated meme (long cat is long).

PS: what are your opinion on Impidimp and Yamper?

PS: the pokemon I'm most looking forward too in Galar is Corviknight

Cybrawler253 In reply to MelanieDirge [2019-06-26 15:30:53 +0000 UTC]

I honestly don't know what to think. Yamper's cute, Impidimp's strange, but I've learned not to judge a Pokemon by their designs. Until I find out more about them (their battle capabilities, whether they evolve or not), my opinion's about as neutral as it can be. And yeah, Corviknight's pretty cool, especially since Steel/Flying is such an underutilized type (with Skarmory and Celesteela being the only other representatives).

Impmon will always be the mon-game imp for me (I agree with you on Impidimp as it needs to prove itself in battle or have a good evo or not).
I also am a fan of ravens so corviknight is up my alley.

I also like how Yamper is based on a corgi, a dog breed favoured by the Queen of England.

Cybrawler253 In reply to Masterge77 [2019-04-05 17:08:43 +0000 UTC]

No problem! I'm honestly not a biggest fan of the anime either (mainly due to how "anti-evolution" it is), so I like hearing about what other people don't like about it.

Your views on it changed? How so? I wouldn't mind hearing more.

Masterge77 In reply to Cybrawler253 [2019-04-05 17:35:12 +0000 UTC]

Well, I just mostly find it boring and that I'm into more "mature" and serious anime nowadays, rather than something that I find to be rather childish as well as an advertisement for games that are much better, but IMO have been in decline since Gen 6.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cybrawler253 In reply to Masterge77 [2019-04-08 03:42:25 +0000 UTC]

That's fair. I frankly just try and stick to the more logic-based and concrete rules of the video games rather than the inconsistent writing of the anime. That, and unevolved Pokemon being portrayed as strong battlers, as well as evolution being made out to be a bad thing/something to rebel against never fails to infuriate me. But that's a very "me" problem, and I can understand that it's not something that bothers everyone.

Blame the marketing, they want to mostly market the "cute" Pokemon to sell toys.

Even though Pokemon like Greninja and Charizard are more popular than the cute Pokemon they try so hard to shove down everyone's throats...

When are they gonna learn that there's more to making a Pokemon popular than just cuteness?

Hi. I know already asked you this, but I just wanted to know. What were your favorite moments in “Kenny”? Any moments that really shocked you?

One of my favorites was reading how his friends looked out for him after he was tormented in the locker room. Hugging him, telling him it was alright, then taking him to the principal's office.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cybrawler253 In reply to Midnight-Lovestruck [2019-04-02 11:26:59 +0000 UTC]

My favorite moment was honestly when the whole thing turned out to be a dream. I felt so sad when Kenny was slowly burning to death in the lava, just peacefully smiling and accepting it, so I was relieved to find that it was just a vivid dream he was having. And of course when the boys all go see Carrie in theaters and Kenny notices all the similarities between the movie and his own dream.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Midnight-Lovestruck In reply to Cybrawler253 [2019-04-02 16:43:16 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. Chapter 12 was full of very sad moments. But at least Kenny didn’t actually have to go through all of that.

One of the moments (among many) that was shocking to me was how Kenny was tormented and assaulted in Chapter 1. His nose leaks blood, he goes hysterical, and he runs out (with only a towel covering himself) pleading with the others to help. Do they help? No. They do the opposite! They taunt him with the demeaning chanting, physically assault him with objects, video record him, and spit on him! Disgusting and horrible!

Cybrawler253 In reply to Midnight-Lovestruck [2019-04-05 17:12:49 +0000 UTC]

My thoughts on Chapter 1? Having previously had no exposure to Carrie, I was mainly wondering how much of Chapter 1 applied to Carrie. I was confused by the whole "Kenny freaking out about a nose bleed" thing, but after finding out that the original situation was Carrie getting her period for the first time... I can see why that alteration was made.

But the most shocking thing about Chapter 1 to me? Eric Cartman acting like a decent human being, and having him be one of the only kids to actually give a shit about Kenny. I honestly did NOT expect that, given how much of a sociopath he is.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Midnight-Lovestruck In reply to Cybrawler253 [2019-04-06 00:48:35 +0000 UTC]

I know. Cartman standing up for Kenny? That was shocking and noble of him. And it was thanks to him also that Kenny’s tormentors ran out. Serves them right for what they did to him!

Yeah, that whole thing with the nose bleed. There’s some disturbing fridge horror with that when it comes to Kenny. He thinks he’s dying. Actually dying, from (in his mind) a nose bleed. It sounds weird, doesn’t it? But remember, this is Kenny. Consider the impossible, how-can-you-die-from-that ways he’s died in canon (i.e. laughing himself to death, dying of boredom). Dying from a nose bleed doesn’t sound very weird in comparison. The ending of Chapter 1 also lampshades the situation from his point-of-view. His nose only bleeds when he’s dead or dying. However, when it happens randomly for the first time? It’s no wonder he goes hysterical.

Carrie knows nothing about menstruation. Kenny connects what happens to him with his immortality. The situation in the shower is different for both of them, but with similar results. They see blood, and associate it with death.

Cybrawler253 In reply to Midnight-Lovestruck [2019-04-08 03:49:37 +0000 UTC]

After looking back at the first chapter... yeah, it makes a lot more sense. And like you said, there's a disturbing amount of fridge horror with that scene given Kenny's immortality. Made even worse by the fact that because nobody else remembers his deaths, everyone else thinks he's just overreacting. Even if he tried to explain it to them, they wouldn't believe him. The poor guy...

And yeah, I wish I could hug both of those two poor souls. I watched Carrie just a couple days ago (the 1976 version), and I was on the verge of tears; I felt so bad for her... Keep in mind that there are very few things in fiction that have made me cry (Kenny's death in Season 5, and the graduation episode in Assassination Classroom are some of the only examples I can think of), so this was especially impressive. But yes, I enjoyed the movie immensely, and am so glad you recommended it to me. Thank you.

Midnight-Lovestruck In reply to Cybrawler253 [2019-04-12 00:06:38 +0000 UTC]

Anytime! Yeah, the 1976 film is great. Sissy Spacek was, and still is, legendary as Carrie White. The 2002 and 2013 Carrie films are also worth a watch, and the novel itself is a must-read. Heck, Carrie has two musical productions (1988 and 2012) that are worth checking out as well!

Regarding the first chapter, I thought the exact same thing. He can’t even explain to them why he’s freaking out. It’s sad. The situation with his family in this story is a tragic one. Carol and Stuart get arrested, Karen gets taken in by another family, Kevin runs away from the orphanage, and Kenny is then left completely abandoned That is, until the Marshes adopt him with loving arms. That was very kind of them

Hi, I wanted to ask you something. Are you a fan of horror movies?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cybrawler253 In reply to Midnight-Lovestruck [2019-03-25 01:00:41 +0000 UTC]

It kinda varies with me. Not a fan of the cheap-jumpscare-horror movies. But when it's got substance, and plays on psychological fears rather than cliche scare tactics, then I'm pretty into it. The best example of a horror movie I like would be Coraline, and for horror TV shows, my favorite would have to be Higurashi: When They Cry.

You can start with the 2013 one, since it came out only six years ago.

Someone actually wrote a South Park parody story of the 2013 film a few years back. With, and this is the best part, Kenny as Carrie White!

Just finished reading "Kenny." I felt so bad for him, but it was also really cathartic seeing him strike back at everyone who had tormented and killed him in the past. It really reminded me of something out of Elfen Lied or Mewtwo's backstory. Though I was glad it was all just a dream he was having, it did explain why the guys bullying him were so OOC. A really gripping read, thanks for recommending it to me!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Midnight-Lovestruck In reply to Cybrawler253 [2019-03-26 05:18:46 +0000 UTC]

You’ve already read it? Awesome. Yeah, it’s a great story, isn’t it?

The guys bullying him doesn’t feel entirely OOC, in my opinion, even if it all is just a dream. Craig and his gang have kind of a rivalry with Stan’s gang in canon. It’s possible (from a story perspective) that between the time from fourth to sixth grade, there’s been time for hostility between the two friend groups to increase. That’s my take on it, at least.

Also, you’re welcome! I’m happy I can share and talk about this story with someone. I can’t get it, or Carrie in general, off my mind.

P.S. What were your favorite moments in the story?
