Fairytale
Once upon a time, in an alternate universe not much unlike our own, there lived a quaint, small little boy. What was so peculiar and even extraordinary about this little boy was not a quality that he innately had, but it was bred into him by circumstance.
He always felt.... Out of place, and had a fierce motivation to find out where he belonged.
The little boy was born on a lush garden planet, teeming with beautiful flowers of every shade, part of a plethora of species that don't have names on earth. He lived in a wooden shack with his sister and mother and father who were always kind to him. His father never raised his voice at his mother and worked hard day and night, and his mother was always compliant. His sister was tolerable.
His planet had a large population, but everyone was spread evenly enough to have a comfortable amount of space and farmland. Early in the planets colonization, mines were built that took precious minerals from the planets core, and the mining business was incredibly lucrative. A government was established on the planet as the population increased, centered around the wealthy merchants and miners and even farmers who dictated where everything and everyone was to go and what was to be done with that and them.
This system allowed the boy and his family to live happily for many years, but again, he felt the feeling of being out of place.
One day, everything soured as quickly as milk left in the sun. the wealthy class elected a leader, who made cruel rules and abused his power for his own profit. He cut the land to benefit only the miners, and left little for the farmers. He built grand spooky fences to keep people divided, he made a force of people with strange weapons that could kill a grown man in an instant, wether he was a criminal or a farmer with a family of his own who simply wanted survival. And this leader preached the greater good nonetheless, believed that justice was not conscious.
The working class began to starve, and the little boy and his family, once soft and a healthy weight with bright lively eyes, became thin with distended bellies and brittle limbs, with angular cheeks and shallow temples and pasty skin like ash. What was worse about there transformation was the dull, hopelessness of there eyes.
The little boy became jaded and slow, hunger consuming him. And one day, while the family huddled around the fire, which didn't help them feel less empty or cold, his father decided curtly that they must leave this planet and fly to another. They loaded up in there spaceship, which they had purchased with there last coins, and drifted away, imagining planets that were greener and happier.
One planet in particular, one that was like there own, was known across the galaxy for being (while a little obnoxious) moral, and just, and willing to allow the starving to find another life, better then the one they had to leave behind. Most of all, it was famed for bringing the light back into people's eyes, from planets that had been devoid of it for many millennia.
The family fled to this planet, drifting like a satellite for weeks before being cleared for entrance and consultation.
And the worst part of this tale, I'm afraid, is that at the border, people were indecisive about to allow these people to a refuge they craved.
And the little boy and his family hoped they would not face a fate that many had: the neglect of other planets when they truly needed aid. They hoped that the hunger would not consume them, and that all laid in the hands of people, on this famed planets, decision to face there own interest or the interest of the people that sought refuge.
I state again, this universe is not unlike our own.

Therefore, there are a plethora of urbanization factors that play a key role in effecting the culture of New York in the novel. The components of urbanization that are crucial to the cultural hardships in the novel are an increase in population, ethnic diversity, increased crime rates, economic competition, and gang violence. As stated at the conclusion of the novel "West Side Story", "And there were people who looked up at the sky and ached with loneliness, as they appealed in silence to the stars and the moon. They hoped that... very soon they would meet someone they could trust, could love and be happy. Some of these wishes came true, but it made no difference to the city because it had been built to endure beyond the lifetime of all the people that inhabited it. That is the way things were. And if things did not change, the way it would always be."
Life and culture are variable, and tend to develop out of conflict to find peace and balance. The main goal of everyone is to live harmoniously, and this is a theme of the story I think is paramount. The story is based around the relationship between the characters and the circumstances they are placed in, especially the taboo romance of Maria and Tony. As a result, urbanization is a very important concept in the novel and urbanization has its own dramatic cultural impact around the world.

Ethnic diversity breeds prejudice in New York, a city full of turmoil and competitive desire for survival.
The ethnic diversity of the Puerto Ricans adds a hostility, because the Sharks are instantly misunderstood as they migrate to New York. The jets have an arbitrary desire to defend there "territory" from people they consider as "intruders" just because of there differing ethnicity. There are also random ethnic battles in the novelization with an undertone of classism and racism, the Puerto Ricans contemptuous because the Americans were not perceived at welcoming, the Americans vicious because they believe the Puerto Ricans have poor intentions and want to harm them without cause. This division makes Tony and Maria's open minded relationship seem socially unacceptable, and prohibits them from becoming lovers because of the prejudice both groups process towards one another, and this is a basis of the tragedy introduced in the story. This conflict has both internal and external effects on the culture of New York. Blah Blah Blah
Increased crime rates are prime in New York culture following the urbanization of the city. Due to high congestion rates in the city, crime increases and becomes easier to get away with, for example, the delinquency practiced by the Jets when throwing a stink bomb into a Puerto Rican shop went unpunished by authority. Because of the frequency of these crimes in the city, New York culture has an idea of desentisism towards these crimes as they become the norm, and they become slightly less concerned then they should be. People in the city with increased population and crime rates begin to feel more and more irrelevant as there individual needs and concerns are not always met. In the "West Side" of New York, people also begin to try and find a result of crime when it is double sided, which contributes to the conflict of racism prevalent in the story. The conflict is both external and internal and effects the culture immensely.

Cultural conflict blah blach blach In the novelization of the Broadway musical "West Side Story" adapted from William Shakespears tragedy "Romeo and Juliet" and set in 1960's New York, urbanization plays a key role in the development of the plot. The many elements of urbanization introduced propel the central idea of racial, social, political, and emotional conflict between the Puerto Ricans and Americans in the novel, as well as an essential cultural conflict. The novel and play convey issues that were extremely relevant at the time considering the rapid growth of urban populations, by using factors of ethnic diversity, increased crime rates, increased economic competition, and gang violence. Irving Schulman, the author of this novel also uses crucial literary devices to develop the story.
A component of urbanization that is rudimentary in this novelization is the rapid growth of urban populations. In “West Side Story”, almost every issue is bred by the need to survive and pursue the American Dream, regardless of what ethnicity the citizen is. For example……
Another fundamental part of urbanization is the ethnic diversity that comes with immigration and movement from rural areas to cities.
Not only is ethnic diversity an intensely important matter, increased crime rates also play an impactful role in developing the plot of the novelization.
Economic competition is one more threat that groups in the novel face,
The main threat, that creates the most intense culturual conflict, in the culture of gang violence prevalent in the story, which effect the culture of New York immensely.

Maya!
Stuffy sent me the link to a song and:
I was listening, and my brother came in.
"Hey Beast, did you take the last Mountain Dew?"
And then my the song says, "Now, yes let's fuck, till the morning is nigh!"
And I turned bright red and said, "fuck."
"I'll come back later." My brother said.
FML
So awkward at dinner
