I'm on the North Side, the complete opposite of where you're are--the South Side. In other words you're a Surena and I'm a Norteno--we're mortal enemies. 
Things could be a bit better, I've been out of work for going on 2 mos. What pisses me off is that this happens a few weeks before I was supposed to take a trip to the Amazon, I had everything BUT the money for the Center. Fortunately the ticket I booked is still booked so I can reschedule the trip. I should've been working by now but my fuckin' family has been fucking me up with their stupid shit, it's pissing me off right now. I'm sure I'll be working soon, it's a matter of time as well as Texas, there are job all over the fuckin' place out here, it's like Bush Jr. took a FAT retirement bonus and spread the wealth out here because it's hard to find work elsewhere.

It's not green enough here and the the gulf smells like shit. I like forests and mountains and all that good stuff. And the tourists here are awful. Thankfully the winter is mellow, though.

I'd figure the Gulf would be more beautiful, you're the 1st person to say how bad it smells. They must dump all kinds of sewage in the ocean which is disgusting, that's why the Cali beaches are unsafe for swimming, they dump all kinds of garbage in it.
I do agree, it's not that green around here, not like NC or even Az, and that's the desert! Tucson has Mt. Lemmon which is beautiful, I Love it up there. That spot alone is more gorgeous that anything around here, everything looks so dead and boring and dull. At least the desert out there is teeming with Life, which is ironic when you think about it.
