Thanks, and it was nice. A simple get together and all I'm looking for now is money to buy a new drawing tablet sometime, so no eventful gifts but I'm okay with that.

It has been some time. Long time since really anything happened on DA honestly. Most people I know are on twitter which has pretty much made me follow along to stay in touch.

Np! Glad it turned out for you, I know so many people with their birthdays in the spring. Hope you can get that tablet soon though, I do all my digital works on my phone or touchscreen laptop. I personally could never get the hand of drawing tablets rip.Β

And yea it kinda sucks,,, I've just seen a increase in all the weird stuff DA hid under the I guess "mainstream" things. Also a lot of dead accounts/old arts, maybe it's because I'm not using eclipse? I don't know, but I've mainly gone to Instagram and Amino occasionally. I have a twitter but don't do much with it. I might use it soon though I'm slightly intimidated by the platform.Β

Also how's college? It's been killing me to switch to online classes.Β

Β  Β Things have slowed down here a lot it seems. At least on my end. I still check on it and if I drawing anything official like Godzilla, it gets a lot of attention but my original works are just living in the shadows.

Β  College has been a little too simple for me actually especially after the switch over. Since I only had art classes that were on campus, they didn't really know how to incorporate their work into an online setting because it required things we can't typically have. There's a big machine that burns on a cover for screen printing, then a press for printmaking and the supplies is expensive otherwise so everyone has basically switched to drawing and digital art which is my strong suit. It takes me about a day to finish 2 weeks' worth of work.

Yea a lot of my old fandom works kept getting liked so I put them in storage because they were very "ew". I don't see a big difference between my fanart and more original stuff right now though which is weird.

I mean I'd just take the opportunity for the "free" break. In reality my course work has been slow and if i wanted to I could be finished with everything except exams but I procrastinate. I wish i had a 2-D art studio class to work with right now because I'm in the 3-D pre-requisite for my art major which is certainly not my specialty. It's not as bad as my first studio class in my first semester because that professor was legit insane. The teachers have all been Grad assists and they are definitely a hit or miss. And I'm trying to drill through all my bs gen-eds. Anyways to keep this short this first year of college has been absolutely crazy.Β

Ah yes the crazy art teacher. Luckily all mine have been really good, but the art world is a strange place.
I have to take ceramics this fall which I have no real interest for. Then figure drawing, but that one I do need.

p0tat0-bitch In reply to Drake6401 [2020-04-24 01:16:21 +0000 UTC]

Normally I'd probably be down with their antics but he was just really rude and spazzy, probably his "special tea/coffee" he drank. Otherwise all my art teachers have been fairly decent, but the female instructors I've seemed chiller(don't take this the wrong way it's just been my experience haha).
In high-school I did ceramics and it's only harder for people who like to create things more specifically. I only didn't like it because of the abstract nature of it. But yea I wouldn't be able to do it more than for a semester. Anyways good luck with those they both have their difficulties.Β

Also was going to ask about your printmaking program, do/did you like it? I really want to do printmaking soon in a class setting because I've done a few and have some supplies and find it really fun to do. Except for when I'm taking chunks out of my hand with the block cutting tools.

Drake6401 In reply to p0tat0-bitch [2020-04-26 08:00:32 +0000 UTC]

Printmaking is okay in my opinion. I'm not particularly fond of it since it's often short of intention. The ink is either a few seconds dry or a tiny bit too much or too little and it doesn't look right. I Recommend above ALL things, to get the smoothest paper you can. The "tooth" in some paper types makes the printing process a nightmare. I remember having great test prints over and over but the moment I used the nicer paper, they were shit. It's because the cheap paper was smooth. Smoother is better in this case. I also used a mechanical press that also made good progress because it prevented the print from sliding or missing certain parts.

p0tat0-bitch In reply to Drake6401 [2020-04-30 10:35:56 +0000 UTC]

Yea I actually did printmaking in high school but we did have any presses or anything. We used like a thin card-stock and then resorted to a high grade construction paper haha.Β  But yea I had to do like 20 test prints and it just felt wasteful. I like the grainier and messy look they have though so that's what interests me personally, but I know for sure that would give me a terrible grade. But thanks for the tip!Β

Any plans to drawΒ Kebechet Β again? Despite its age, the artwork is still really solid though. Snakes are neat, and I like the gold wears. Attire is not among my skillsets, so you okay with me asking for idea's if I run into an issue?

I usually have more ideas than I can put to print. it's whether or not I can put those ideas together. Most of the time it's easier to find an idea from something you're currently invested in. Like a story in development.

I've been looking at comics and mags just for an idea to draw summer stuff for my female characters and to make new kind of stuff to show off to.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Drake6401 In reply to Blits-Rainer [2019-05-23 18:43:01 +0000 UTC]

Β  Thye solution is simple. Bikinis! I mean, that's the main reason to go to the beach right?
Ironically most of my female characters can't even wear proper swimwear for various anatomy reasons.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Blits-Rainer In reply to Drake6401 [2019-05-24 03:00:46 +0000 UTC]

though my character species can study and think of something and the solution.

Drake6401 In reply to Blits-Rainer [2019-05-24 03:37:53 +0000 UTC]

Β  Β It's more of a practicality issue for them, and that they don't even need attire. Reptiles are pretty good at bypassing that requirement.

Blits-Rainer In reply to Drake6401 [2019-05-24 03:42:29 +0000 UTC]

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Blits-Rainer In reply to Drake6401 [2019-05-24 03:52:08 +0000 UTC]

it's a material that adapts to Reptilian, Insectoid, any species cause the material can become anything like Metal or Leather Armor or even fancy clothing but would require my character's species to make it.

Β  Β I'll try to reframe from digging for logic. I've got a nitch for that. I guess it seems rather nifty though.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Blits-Rainer In reply to Drake6401 [2019-05-24 09:15:45 +0000 UTC]

yup cause well it is a long story on the hole Blitsonyum thing and well Blitsonyum is the same as the Master sword from Legend of Zelda if the magic metal was exposed in space absorbing the energy's of space as well.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Drake6401 In reply to Blits-Rainer [2019-05-24 21:39:45 +0000 UTC]

Β  Β I know basically nothing from that franchise so it doesn't help me much. I thought Link was named Zelda for the longest time. Most game based relations will go over my head. My game collection is quite small.

Β  Β My logic comes out of my science books or loosely built on reasonable mythology. If my characters have a supernatural trait, I back it up to the very best I can with real-world science. I got Kiarha down to the point of being a thermonuclear dragon, run by the rotation based heart that uses gravitation pull instead of a pump to channel oxygen and blood through her system. Her heart and its functions work very much like a thermonuclear warheads mechanics such as using nuclear fusion and fission to gather and destroy atoms for combustion. Saying she has atomic breath doesn't cut it for me. I'm one of those psychos that need science!...ish

Β  Β Of course, the stretches to Kiarha's lore is exactly why her cells are not destroyed by the radiation and how she can generate that much energy and also fire it in various ways. That part is fiction. I can't explain it with facts and numbers, but I got it to make as much sense as possible. A creature with a nuclear reactor for a heart is pure science fiction and right now, I can't say otherwise.

Β  I guess I'm like Marvel's MCU if I have to use comparison. I add as much logic and reason as I can but fiction will be fiction.
